Shark has spent every year of his life in shelter care. Born in 2020, he grew up knowing only kennel routines, concrete floors, barking dogs, and temporary moments of attention between long stretches of waiting. Like many long term shelter dogs, he never had the opportunity to properly learn what normal life as a family dog looks like. Despite this, Shark has remained remarkably affectionate and emotionally open with people. He genuinely loves human interaction and has the sort of temperament that immediately surprises people once they meet him properly. His large head and strong appearance can make him look intimidating at first glance, but underneath it is actually a very loving, people oriented dog who enjoys affection and attention far more than conflict or drama. There is something very honest about him emotionally. He does not seem complicated with humans. He simply enjoys company, interaction, and being included. Around other dogs, Shark is generally manageable, although he is not particularly keen on unneutered males. This is not unusual for many adult male dogs, especially those who have spent long periods living in stressful kennel environments where social tension can naturally build more easily. Outside of that specific issue, he is not described as a difficult or confrontational dog generally. One thing Shark does still need work on is lead manners. Having spent his whole life in kennels with limited opportunities for structured walks and training, he pulls strongly on the lead and will need guidance, consistency, and patience to improve. Shelter dogs often simply never receive enough normal practice with lead walking to properly learn calm behaviour outside. At the same time, dogs like Shark often improve significantly once they finally experience stability, routine, and regular exercise in a home environment rather than the constant frustration and stimulation of kennel life. What makes Shark especially sad is how much life has already passed him by without him ever truly getting to live it properly. He has spent years waiting while remaining loving, emotionally balanced, and hopeful with humans despite everything. He deserves so much more than growing older behind fences. He deserves proper walks instead of short kennel breaks. He deserves a sofa instead of concrete. He deserves a person who sees beyond the shelter dog label and recognises the genuinely lovely companion underneath. At heart, Shark feels like the sort of dog who would become deeply loyal once finally given stability and belonging for the first time in his life.
