In fact, once someone gives her attention, her loving nature becomes obvious almost immediately. What Valentina struggles with is not people, but the world itself. Having spent most of her life growing up in kennels, many ordinary parts of everyday life are still unfamiliar to her. Busy roads, traffic noises, crowded spaces, sudden sounds, unfamiliar environments, and all the stimulation that comes with normal life outside a shelter can initially feel frightening and overwhelming. Dogs raised long term in kennels often never have the opportunity to properly experience the outside world during important developmental stages, and Valentina reflects that reality. Despite this, she remains an incredibly emotionally soft and affectionate dog. Even when unsure of her surroundings, she still looks to humans for comfort rather than withdrawing from them. She clearly wants connection, reassurance, and safety from the people around her. Valentina is also wonderful with children and has a naturally gentle temperament around them.
