Wilbur is hoping to find a patient and committed family who can help him shine. Adopters will need to be able to visit Wilbur a few times here at the centre to get to know all about him and get involved in all his training to set him up for success in his forever home. Wilbur does have a previous injury to his leg, he is not currently on medication for this however this may change in the future and his new family will need to be aware and understanding of any costs and limitations that may arise in the future. Meet the wonderful Wilbur! This handsome young lad is full of energy and charm, and he's on the lookout for a fun-loving family to share his adventures with. At just over a year old, Wilbur is still very much a puppy at heart. He adores zooming around and playing to his heart’s content. Wilbur has been friendly with other dogs, but his excitement can sometimes be a bit much, so for now, he’ll need to be the only pet in the home while he works on his social skills. He can find too much handling a little overwhelming, so his new family will need to go at his pace and respect his need for space at times. Because of this, Wilbur would be best suited to a home with older children (aged 16+) who are confident around excitable dogs. Wilbur is hoping for patient and understanding owners who can continue his training and help guide him as he grows. He’s currently learning new skills, such as how to swap and drop items, and he’s doing really well. It would be ideal if Wilbur could have his own safe space in his new home, where he can learn essential settling skills to help him relax. He can show mouthing behaviours when he's feeling anxious and with positive reward training he's slowly learning to make better decisions. A secure garden would be ideal for Wilbur as he’d love the space to play, explore, and of course, zoom! Wilbur can find spending time home alone a bit overwhelming, so will need adopters who can work with him (with guidance from our team) to help him feel comfortable being left alone. This will need to be built up very gradually as he settles in to home life.
