Hi, we are Chip und Chap. We’re two male, unneutered degus, 2½ years old, and have been living together as a pair for the past 8 months. Unfortunately, we can’t agree on who’s in charge, which often leads to squabbles between us—though these never escalate too far, since we somehow still like each other deep down. We’d love to go to experienced hands and a home with plenty of space, as we are extremely active. Chip: I’m Chip, sandy-colored and extremely active. I’m fearless—if the cage door opens, I immediately jump onto my human to climb all over them. I can climb up and down my person without any fear of heights or big jumps (though you absolutely need to watch me closely so I don’t get hurt and maybe rein me in a bit). Right now, I’m trying to take on the alpha role, but it’s becoming overwhelming. Plus, I don’t really care much about my degu buddies—I’d much rather spend time with my humans. Chap: I’m Chap. I’m also a very active degu, though not quite as trusting as Chip. Still, I’ll take treats from your hand, and once I’m on it, I move around normally without fear. I absolutely love cuddling and really need companions who enjoy that too! Chip can’t always give me that. Since he can’t properly fulfill his leadership role, I often try to step in—which is why we clash. We’ve been tested for giardia, are perfectly healthy according to our vet, and have no dental issues. We have so much more to share and would be thrilled to find a larger group, as space limitations make that impossible with our current caregivers at our shelter.

Hallo, wir sind Chip und Chap. Wir sind zwei männliche, unkastrierte Degus, sind 2 1/2 Jahre alt und leben nun seit 8 Monaten in einer 2-er Gruppe. Leider sind wir uns uneinig wer der Chef ist, was untereinander oft zu Rangeleien führt, die allerdings nicht ausarten, da wir uns irgendwie doch leiden können. Wir würden uns wünschen in erfahrene Hände und in ein Zuhause mit sehr viel Platz zu kommen, da wir extrem aktiv sind. Chip: Ich bin Chip, sandfarben und extrem aktiv. Ich habe vor nichts Angst, wenn die Käfigtüre geöffnet wird springe ich mein Menschlein an um auf ihm herumzuklettern. Ich kann an ihm hoch- und runterklettern und habe auch keine Angst vor Höhen oder sehr weiten Sprüngen (hier muss man aber unbedingt aufpassen, dass ich mich nicht verletzte und mich etwas bremsen).Ich versuche aktuell die Chefrolle zu übernehmen, aber das wächst mir über den Kopf. Zudem sind mir meine Degu-Kumpels relativ egal, da ich mich lieber mit meinen Menschen beschäftige. Chap: Ich bin Chap. Ich bin auch ein sehr aktiver Degu, allerdings nicht ganz so zutraulich wie Chip. Dennoch hole ich mir Leckerlies aus der Hand und wenn ich einmal auf der Hand bin, dann bewege ich mich dort auch normal ohne Angst zu haben.Ich liebe es zu kuscheln und brauche unbedingt Kumpels, die das auch mögen! Chip kann mir das nicht immer zu geben. Da er seinen Chefposten nicht ausführen kann, versuche ich das oft zu übernehmen, weshalb wir aneinander geraten. Wir sind auf Giardien getestet, laut Arzt kerngesund und haben keine Zahnprobleme. Wir haben noch sehr viel mehr zu erzählen und würden uns freuen, wenn wir eine größere Gruppe finden würden, da dies bei unseren aktuellen Nüsschengebern platztechnisch nicht möglich ist.
