Adopter Joyful, playful Jilly

Sweet Jilly is a gorgeous Jack Russell Terrier cross, aged almost 12. She is in an Oldies Club foster home in the London Borough of Hounslow, waiting for someone to offer her a forever home. Introduction: Jilly is a loving and playful girl who is a bit bigger than a JRT. She weighs 12kg, is 33cm tall and 70cm long. Jilly's foster carer describes her as a joy to look after. She's easy-going, friendly and sociable and she loves to play with her toys. Jilly is good with small dogs but frightened of bigger dogs. She needs a home without cats but could live with dog-savvy children aged 8+. She is an excellent traveller. Settled well in foster care: It took Jilly about a week to settle and get used to her foster family, their timings and ways of doing things. Can be left: Although she loves to have people around most of the time, Jilly is absolutely fine about being left for a couple of hours when you need to go out. She wouldn't want to live with someone who is out at work all day though. Good with small dogs: Jilly has been very good with a visiting puppy, and she is fine with small dogs, but she sees large dogs as a threat and will bark at them. Will chase cats: Jilly knows the terrier rules and she would chase cats if given the chance! Good with children: Jilly has been fine with her foster carers' visiting grandchildren. She could live in a home with kind, dog-savvy children aged 8+. Enjoys steady walks: Jilly enjoys her walks, but she can be quite slow and ploddy at times. She is having 3 or 4 walks per day of around 15 minutes each. Very good in the car: Jilly is an excellent little traveller. Jilly's favourite pastimes: Jilly absolutely loves to play, like a proper terrier. She enjoys chasing her string of plastic sausages and her squeaky rabbit. She is a very sociable girl too. Jilly's dislikes: The only thing that seems to worry Jilly is large dogs. Jilly's ideal home: She would love a home with at least one person at home for most of the time. Her new home must have a nice secure garden that has a grass lawn. Sleeping arrangements: Jilly sleeps on her foster carer's bed at night, and in her own dog bed during the day. Occasionally she won’t settle upstairs, especially if it's too hot, and then she is happy to go downstairs to her own bed. Health notes: Jilly is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and has been wormed and flea treated. Jilly seems to be a very healthy dog. She has shown a sensitivity to certain foods, but her foster carers have found a food that she is happy to eat and that doesn’t upset her stomach. An initial blood test showed an issue with some hormone levels, but when repeated the results were inconclusive. Jilly is not taking any medication. Jilly's foster carer tells us: " Jilly is loving, playful and funny. She has been a joy to look after. She is a very happy, easy-going, friendly dog. She is happy to wait until I get up for her food and walk, although I am always early. Jilly’s joints get a little stiff if she has been lying down for a while, but a little exercise sorts her out. She loves to play with her toys. " If you would like to offer Jilly a permanent home, please read our Adoption Procedures for information about the adoption process. You can then contact the Oldies Club rehoming team as follows: Email: for an application form. Or , leaving a message including your email address, and we’ll email an application form. Jilly can be rehomed anywhere on the UK mainland – the closer to her foster home the better – subject to a satisfactory home visit. Note that you will be required to travel to the foster home to collect her. If you would love to offer a home to an oldie but your circumstances aren’t suitable, perhaps you would be kind enough to sponsor one of the special oldies we are caring for that, due to health problems, are unlikely to be offered a permanent home.
