The protozoan Leishmania infantum is transmitted to dogs through injection via the bite of a certain type of mosquito. The canine LEISHMANIOSIS can affect all breeds of dogs. Once a dog is infected by the parasite, it lives and reproduces in the animal's organs, and depending on its health status, the strength of its immune system, and other factors, it will cause a systemic effect in the organism, leading to a progressive (more or less rapid) worsening of our four-legged companion's health. From the moment of infection following the bite, symptoms may appear between 4 and 6 months later.
