Xena is a hugely affectionate girl. She is more comfortable indoors and show her happy go lucky character, whereas outdoors she can become more stressed and needs some support to help her feel more confident. She has lived in a home before so is used to a household routine – she loves nothing more than to lean in for a fuss and here at Battersea Old Windsor has proved to be very affectionate, approaching people with a big wiggle and tail wag. Xena is an active girl and will therefore need a garden where she can have some time off lead. We have found that Xena struggles to walk calmly on lead and gets distracted by other dogs, wildlife and people and can pull strongly and sometimes bark. We are working on her training in this area but it is still a work in progress and will need to be continued in her new home with owners who are comfortable to take this on and be able to manage Xena. When she is indoors, she is much more relaxed and given some time can settle and just loves being with people - we have her in our offices and she goes from person to person to say hello and have some attention. Xena has been able to socialise with a variety of dogs here, however she does sometimes struggle passing other dogs and can become frustrated, pulling and panting on her lead because she wants to say hello. She has a very high chase drive with wildlife, and smaller dogs peak her interest more, though she has played respectfully with smaller dogs. In Xena’s previous home she showed some separation anxiety and would bark when left alone. As Xena spends time settling into her new home, we do recommend that she is not left in the home on her own too soon, she also needs a home with more than one person to be able to give her the consistent support she needs. Xena loves her tennis balls and will like nothing more than playing with her new family in the garden. She knows a 'drop' and has no issues swapping her toys for a treat. Xena is delightful girl and is looking for a peaceful and loving home who are prepared to continue her training and where she can relax and show off her bubbly personality.
