Zara is a roughly 4-year-old female dog who ended up at the shelter after being found as a stray. She was wearing a collar and leash, and she appeared visibly confused and lost. She’s a friendly, active, and energetic dog. She loves playing with balls, enjoys running, and really loves water. Sometimes emotions get the better of her, making her somewhat impulsive; however, she can calm herself down and focuses exceptionally well—especially when treats are involved. Zara clearly communicates her boundaries. She doesn’t like being touched around the area of her back, which is related to her health condition. An X-ray examination revealed degenerative changes in the lumbar region of her spine, likely resulting from an injury or traffic accident. Unfortunately, these changes are not operable, so she’ll require lifelong pain management. In the future, it would also be worth considering rehabilitation.

Zara to około 4-letnia suczka, która trafiła do schroniska jako znaleziona. Miała na sobie obrożę i smycz, była wyraźnie zdezorientowana i zagubiona. To przyjazna, aktywna i pełna energii sunia. Uwielbia zabawę piłeczką, chętnie biega i bardzo lubi wodę. Emocje czasami biorą nad nią górę, przez co bywa impulsywna, jednak potrafi się wyciszyć i bardzo dobrze skupia uwagę – zwłaszcza gdy w grę wchodzą smaczki. Zara wyraźnie komunikuje swoje granice. Nie lubi dotyku w okolicy grzbietu, co ma związek z jej stanem zdrowia. W badaniu RTG wykryto zmiany zwyrodnieniowe w odcinku lędźwiowym kręgosłupa, będące najprawdopodobniej następstwem urazu lub wypadku komunikacyjnego. Niestety zmiany są nieoperacyjne, dlatego do końca życia będzie wymagała leczenia przeciwbólowego. W przyszłości warto rozważyć również rehabilitację.
