Alfonso is a characterful, curious little cuddlebug. He absolutely loves and needs human company—both for cuddling and for playing. He adores attention and actively seeks it out to ensure someone pays him care. He also won’t turn down a tasty meal. This cat is FIV-positive. What does FIV+ mean? It stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus—commonly referred to as “cat AIDS” because it resembles the human version of the disease. Infection typically occurs through direct contact: when the saliva of an infected cat comes into contact with the blood of another cat—for example, via deep bite wounds sustained during fights. Cats with FIV can live alongside other FIV-positive cats as well as healthy cats, provided the animals are calm and don’t engage in aggressive fights. Only cats can become infected; neither you nor your dog can catch FIV, nor can you transmit it to your neighbor’s cat. While FIV is incurable, with proper care, its progression can be effectively managed, allowing an FIV-positive cat to live a long and happy life. The key is to keep the cat indoors, regularly monitor its health, and boost its immune system (for instance, by using appropriate supplements).

Nie pogardzi też dobrym jedzonkiem. Ten kot jest nosicielem FIV+. Czym jest FIV+? Jest to zespół nabytego niedoboru immunologicznego, potocznie nazywany kocim AIDS, ponieważ przypomina ludzką odmianę tej choroby. Do zakażenia dochodzi głównie przez bezpośredni kontakt śliny nosiciela z krwią drugiego kota, czyli np. przez głębokie rany kąsane podczas bójek. Koty z FIV mogą mieszkać z innymi kotami zakażonymi FIV, ale też ze zdrowymi kotami, pod warunkiem, że zwierzaki są spokojne i nie dochodzi między nimi do agresywnych walk. Zarazić mogą się TYLKO KOTY. Nie zarazisz się więc ani Ty, ani Twój pies, ani nie przeniesiesz FIV na sobie na kota sąsiadów. To choroba nieuleczalna, ale dzięki odpowiedniej opiece można powstrzymać jej rozwój, a kot z FIV może żyć długo i szczęśliwie. Podstawą jest dom niewychodzący, regularne kontrolowanie stanu zdrowia kota i wzmacnianie jego odporności (np. za pomocą odpowiednich suplementów).
