Adoptoi Gerry

Gerry is a strong, senior German Shepherd who came to APASA after a difficult past. He arrived with a bundle of fears and aggression toward humans, shaped by a history that was clearly not kind. It was evident from day one that Gerry would need someone patient, experienced, and willing to earn his trust step by step. Over time, he has made progress, but Gerry remains a dog who requires firm boundaries and continued support from someone who understands the nuances of behaviorally complex dogs. He walks well on the lead and still enjoys his outings - but thrives in routine, calm settings with minimal stressors. Gerry is not a dog for a first-time adopter, but for the right person — someone with a deep understanding of dog behavior and a commitment to rehabilitation - he offers a rare opportunity to transform a life. If that person might be you, we’d love to talk more about how to support you in making it happen.
