Adoptoi Healing Paws

Käännös tulossa.

Around 70% of dogs who arrive with us need medical care, from routine flea and worming treatment to complex surgery, and we now spend approximately £300,000 a year on veterinary bills. Every dog deserves the best care, which is why we do everything we can to heal every paw. A few weeks ago, a Cocker Spaniel was brought to us as a stray, and it was immediately clear that she needed urgent care. The person who found her lovingly named her Maggie. At first glance, Maggie was painfully underweight. She was also still producing milk, indicating that she had given birth within the previous six weeks. Puppies should remain with their mother until they are at least eight weeks old, so we hoped to find Maggie's owner and, if possible, reunite her with her puppies. Sadly, Maggie wasn't microchipped, and despite our efforts, no owner came forward. Maggie was taken straight to the vet for a full examination, which revealed several painful conditions requiring immediate treatment. She had a severe ear infection, a skin infection, and open wounds caused by constant scratching. She was clearly in significant discomfort. Her care plan included medicated baths three times a week, a course of antibiotics, regular ear cleaning, urine testing, medication to dry up her milk, and a carefully managed feeding programme to help her regain weight safely. Once her skin and ear infections have healed, Maggie will be neutered to prevent any future unplanned litters. Thankfully, Maggie was able to move into a loving foster home, where she could recover in the comfort and security of a home environment. This has given her the best possible chance of making a full recovery and will help prepare her for life with a forever family. Sara Rosser, Hope Rescue Operations Manager said: Every dog that comes through our doors deserves the chance to heal, both physically and emotionally, and for many of them that journey starts at the vets. Maggie's story shows just how much care some of our dogs need before they're ready to find their forever home, and we simply couldn't do it without the generosity of our supporters Please donate today and help heal the next set of paws that need us. On 17 March 2026, the Welsh Government voted to end greyhound racing - now we're making sure no greyhound is left behind and adding our voice to the call for a UK-wide ban. This was one of the most challenging and distressing cases our experienced team have been involved in. Not only from the sheer number of dogs but also their condition. We are delighted to announce that Welsh journalist and TV and radio presenter Mariclare Carey-Jones has joined the charity as its newest ambassador. The demand for flat-faced dogs is fuelling a crisis in animal welfare. It's not cute if it costs their life. On arrival, Bamboo was deeply distressed, emaciated and has clearly been through a lot of suffering. We immediately took him to our vets, who gave him a body score of 1.5 out of 9 - this poor boy came to us just in time. After a public call on Hope Rescue’s social media channels for urgent help, we received an incredible response. In an historic victory for animal welfare, this evening Senedd members voted for a complete ban on greyhound racing in Wales. Discover the Hope Rescue dogs waiting for their forever homes.
