Marnie was wandering alone in the countryside when she spotted one of our volunteers participating in rogaining, and she decided to follow her. When we arrived at the shelter, we noticed that Marnie’s belly was round and swollen—and the vet confirmed she was carrying five little podencos inside. She gave birth at the shelter and soon after moved into a foster home. Three of the five puppies were put up for adoption, but the last two weren’t. After spending so much time together, and considering that one of them is much more timid, we decided we simply couldn’t separate them anymore—after all, the shy one would surely be left all alone, condemning him to a life of solitude. Despite waiting and waiting, no one ever came forward to adopt them as a pair. So Marnie, their mom, had to take on the task of raising and training them at home to keep them fit and healthy. Now we can’t possibly break up this family unit. We know it’s not easy to adopt an entire family—but that’s precisely because people don’t realize just how simple it is to adopt a whole family. Isn’t that ironic? They love each other dearly and get along wonderfully. They play and entertain themselves together. You’ve already got everything sorted out; all that’s missing is a home—a place where they can live happily alongside their podencos. Do you dare to share your life with some podencos?

Marnie estaba solita por el campo cuando vio a una de nuestras voluntarias haciendo rogaining, y decidió seguirla. Al llegar al refugio vimos que tenía la barriga redondita y el veterinario confirmó que llevaba cinco podenquitos ahí dentro. Parió en el refugio y al poco tiempo se mudó a una casa de acogida. Tres de los cinco cachorros salieron en adopción, pero los dos últimos no. Después de tanto tiempo juntos, y teniendo en cuenta que uno de ellos es mucho más miedoso, decidimos que ya no podíamos separarlos, ya que seguramente el miedoso se quedaría solo y eso lo condenaría a soledad. Esperando esperando, nadie se ofreció a una adopción conjunta. Y su mami, Marnie, tuvo que educarlos en casa y entrenarlos para que estuvieran en forma. Ahora ya no podemos separar el núcleo familiar. Sabemos que no es fácil adoptar a una familia entera, pero eso es porque la gente no sabe lo fácil que es adoptar a una familia entera. ¿Paradójico, eh? Se quieren mucho, se llevan muy bien entre ellos. Juegan y se distraen. Ya lo tienes todo hecho, solo falta un hogar.
