Karpatka is a kitten who is still learning to trust humans, but you can already catch glimpses of her curiosity. With the volunteers she knows well, she’s already starting to step down from the highest shelf in the cat room and opting instead for a house or box placed on the floor. She vocalizes her disapproval of close approaches with a hiss, but she doesn’t react aggressively—only with warning swats. She’s looking for an experienced caregiver who will respect her fear-driven boundaries and gradually win her heart, one small step at a time. Her favorite activity during the day is napping and observing what’s going on in the cat room from a safe distance. She loves to peek at what this human is up to, and when she feels more confident, she’ll come down to sit among the other cats, snuggling up against them. A distinctive feature of hers is her short, slightly tattered tail, which bears witness to her past. May a warm future waiting for her—a cozy spot on the couch by your side—soon replace that past.
