*Please read all information carefully before enquiring*Les is our handsome 10-month-old mixed breed pup. We do not know what breeds he is, but if you imagine a Jack Russell, cross it with a Staffy and then make it bigger, you’ll have a good idea of what he looks like! Les is around 16kg so medium sized.Les has not had the upbringing you would hope for a young pup and has sadly missed out on a lot of training, socialisation and experiences. Therefore, he can be quite worried in some situations… when he first arrived with us, he was very nervous of the new environment and required a lot of gentle encouragement to get him to explore. He would bark at strangers and cling to his handler for reassurance.Since then, he has come on leaps and bounds and now enjoys going to different areas of the site. He has learnt that other people are ok too and it’s actually good to make friends! Now he will greet you with his tail wagging! Les loves his food and enjoys enrichment such as frozen kongs. He has a short attention span for training but we are working on this! Les is finding kennel life stressful which isn’t helping his focus for training, we think that once he settles in a calmer environment, he will start to enjoy training games as his love for treats is so strong! His new family will need to be patient and understanding, and be willing to pretty much start from scratch with him as if he is a brand new puppy using only positive reinforcement based training. He does not currently know any commands but has started to associate the word ‘yes’ with a reward.Once Les has decided you are a safe person, he does like a cuddle and a kiss! He is still unsure about some aspects of handling and grooming and will need to learn about this. He is learning how to play, at the moment he will chase the ball but when he reaches it does not know what to do! Les previously lived with several other dogs and has had positive interactions with dogs here at the Centre. However, at the moment due to his nervousness and the amount of 1-2-1 training he needs, we feel a home as the only pet would be best. We are looking for an adult only home at the moment, ideally where he will not be left for too long as he may struggle with some separation anxiety.
