Rex is a dog who has had a difficult journey after being abandoned following his owner's illness. He is a companion with a reserved temperament, who needs time to give his trust, but reveals great gentleness once he feels comfortable and safe. With a medium energy level, Rex is a playful dog who already has good basic obedience: he knows and masters the commands "sit," "lie down," and "drop it." Although he can sometimes be reactive towards strangers, he has the advantage of knowing and accepting wearing a muzzle, a valuable tool for his safety and that of others. Rex has his little preferences: although he does not particularly like brushing or veterinary manipulations, he loves back scratches once he has adopted you! On walks, he tends to pull a bit on the leash, a point that will be easily corrected with consistency. He behaves very well during car trips otherwise. For his future home, we are looking for a calm and consistent environment without children. Living with a female companion is possible, provided a prior introduction at the shelter to verify their compatibility. Due to his natural wariness of strangers, several visits to the shelter will be necessary before adoption in order to build a strong bond with him. In addition, a follow-up with a dog trainer will be mandatory to support his transition and give you the keys to a successful relationship.
