Adoptoi Saya

I was abandoned because she urinated on the couch. We took her in and placed her in a foster home. We now know her very well, and we believe she is ready to be adopted! Her story: Saya was entrusted to us 4 years after being purchased from a breeder, because she had been urinating outside her litter box every day, 1 to 2 times since she was 6 months old. The first step when dealing with inappropriate elimination is indeed to assess whether they have any medical cause(s). This is what we did as soon as we took Saya in: we had a full health checkup that revealed a bladder inflammation (which could be treated) and a dysplasia (stage E, the most advanced). The dysplasia was evaluated by a veterinary specialist who concluded that Saya was not in pain and that it was unlikely to cause the inappropriate elimination. It is not necessary to operate her now, but it will need to be reassessed annually according to her progress. In parallel with the medical treatment, we have done everything possible to encourage her return to the litter box: an environment that is as suitable as possible for the ethological needs of a cat (litter boxes with a large amount of appropriate substrate, scratching posts, high places, water fountains, etc.). Important adjustments because some cats associate pain with the litter box and may continue to urinate outside, even if their health issue is resolved, especially when the situation has been going on for years. Saya did not urinate outside the litter box for several weeks. However, we noticed that it could still happen. After a long period of observation, we think it happens when Saya's daily routine is disrupted (a major change in routine, unpredictable daily life, etc.). The eliminations mainly occurred on days when the foster family was away or present only briefly. The family that Saya was previously with often traveled and had an unpredictable lifestyle. She has now changed to a foster family that is more "homebody." Saya has unrestricted access to the human living there: she comes for a cuddle if she feels like it, and goes elsewhere if she wants to be alone. We had some reservations because there are other cats, but she gets along very well with them (she ignores them and doesn't pay attention to them). We can feel that she is very relaxed and calm in this daily life. You probably noticed in the photos: Saya was unfortunate enough to be born Exotic Shorthair... she therefore inherited a very pronounced hypertype, a genetics that did not allow her a good start in life, and which can cause her difficulties (misalignment of the jaw, very recessed nose, and dysplasia). Fortunately, despite all this, Saya is a very resilient little cat who is always happy to see a human coming home. She is a very affectionate cat who is loving and very curious. She is also very playful and loves to interact with the feather toy, or play independently with a mouse. She is a big fan of remote work and has developed expertise in positioning herself in front of the webcam during video calls, or even jumping onto the shoulders of the human working and not giving her enough attention. She loves to pat everything she encounters, including humans. We will prefer for her a adopting family in the area of 35 or 22. She can live in an apartment or a house, with a cat or a dog depending on the profiles. If you dream of sharing your life with an incredible cat and you are ready to take into account her specific needs, you may be Saya's future home...

Saya a été abandonnée car elle urinait sur le canapé. Nous l'avons recueillie et placée en famille d'accueil. Nous la connaissons désormais très bien, et nous estimons qu’elle est prête pour être adoptée ! Son histoire : Saya nous a été confiée 4 ans après son achat en élevage, car elle faisait chaque jour 1 à 2 pipis hors de sa litière depuis ses 6 mois. La première étape face à des éliminations hors litière est en effet d'évaluer s'ils ont une ou plusieurs cause(s) médicale(s). C'est ce que nous avons fait dès que nous avons récupéré Saya : nous avons fait réaliser un bilan complet de santé qui a mis en lumière une inflammation de la vessie (qui a pu être soignée via un traitement) et une dysplasie (de stade E, le plus avancé). La dysplasie a été évaluée par une vétérinaire spécialiste qui a conclu que Saya n'était a priori pas douloureuse et qu'il était peu probable que cela cause les éliminations hors litière. Il n'est pas nécessaire de l'opérer aujourd'hui mais cela devra être réévalué annuellement selon son évolution. En parallèle de ce traitement médicamenteux, nous avons tout mis en place pour favoriser un retour à la litière : un environnement adapté au maximum aux besoins éthologiques d'un chat (litières avec une grande quantité de substrat adapté, arbres à chat, points en hauteur, fontaine à eau, etc.). Des aménagements importants car certains chats associent la douleur à la litière et peuvent continuer d'uriner en dehors, même si leur problème de santé est résolu, surtout lorsque la situation s'est installée depuis des années. Saya n'a pas fait de pipi hors litière pendant plusieurs semaines. Cependant, nous avons remarqué que cela pouvait encore arriver. Après un long temps d'observation, nous pensons que cela arrive lorsque le quotidien de Saya est bouleversé (rupture importante des routines, quotidien imprévisible, etc.). Les éliminations se produisaient principalement sur des journées d'absence, ou de présence réduite, chez une famille d'accueil qui s'absente régulièrement et qui n'a pas de rythme de vie prévisible. Elle a changé de famille d'accueil qui a au contraire est assez « casanière ». Saya y a un accès sans restriction à l'humaine qui habite les lieux : elle vient faire un câlin si elle en a envie, et va se poser ailleurs si elle a envie d'être tranquille. Nous avions des réserves car il y a d'autres chats mais elle s'en accomode très bien (elle les ignore et ne s'y intéresse pas). On la sent très détendue et apaisée dans ce quotidien. Vous l'aurez remarqué sur les photos : Saya a eu le malheur de naître Exotic Shorthair… Elle a donc hérité d'un hypertype très prononcé.. une génétique qui ne lui a pas permis un bon départ dans la vie, et qui peut lui poser des difficultés (défaut d'alignement de la mâchoire, nez très enfoncé et dysplasie). Heureusement, malgré tout cela, Saya est une petite chatte très résiliente qui est toujours ravie de voir un•e humain•e rentrer à la maison. C'est une chatte très attachante qui se montre câline et très curieuse. Elle est également très joueuse et adore interagir avec le plumeau, ou jouer en autonomie avec une souris. Elle est une grande adepte du télétravail et a développé une expertise pour se placer devant la webcam lors des visios, ou même pour sauter sur les épaules de l'humain•e qui travaille et ne lui accorde pas assez d'attention. Elle adore pattouner tout ce qu'elle croise, y compris les humains. Nous privilégierons pour elle une famille adoptive dans le secteur du 35 ou du 22. Elle pourra vivre en appartement ou en maison, avec chat ou avec chien en fonction des profils. Si vous rêvez de partager votre vie avec une chatte incroyable et que vous êtes prêt•es à prendre en compte ses besoins spécifiques, vous êtes peut-être le futur foyer de Saya…
