Nancy, a sweet French Bulldog, arrived at Berwick Animal Rescue Kennels in the middle of August in poor condition. She was underweight and had sore skin, ears and eyes. We also noticed clear problems with her back legs, so our team quickly arranged the care and investigations she needed. Nancy when she arrived at BARK in the middle of August Treatment has transformed Nancy’s comfort and confidence. Her skin, ears and eyes have improved, and she has gained strength and condition. She will need some ongoing treatment, but it is straightforward and inexpensive. An X-ray of her back revealed changes linked to her breeding. Nancy has limited awareness of where her back legs are, yet she continues to grow stronger and makes the most of every day. She has to wear boots to stop her back legs from scraping. This determined little dog, who was born in earl 2016, loves her walks and enjoys meeting people. She has behaved well around other dogs and greets human company with enthusiasm. Nancy sets her own pace, and we follow her lead. For longer outings, she travels in a buggy when she needs a rest, then hops out again when she feels ready to explore. One month on and our Nancy is looking and feeling so much better. Nancy needs a special home that will see her ability, not just her disability. Her new family should support her mobility, continue her treatment and adapt activities when necessary. In return, Nancy will bring affection, character and plenty of companionship. Her ideal adopters will offer a safe, comfortable environment and monitor her health with their vet. They will understand that she may sometimes need help, while still giving her every chance to enjoy walks, play, affection and new experiences.
