Mundo is a wonderful dog outdoors; he has an excellent recall and good social skills with other dogs. He may be afraid of certain noises (such as construction work) and wary of people holding “sticks,” umbrellas, or brooms. However, he shows no aggression outdoors. He loves finding canine friends who chase after him—this is his favorite game. Indoors, he’s a dog who enjoys being in the same room as us, asks for cuddles, and gets along perfectly with our cat and our son. He shows no resource guarding toward us (my partner, my son, my cat, or I can take his toys, chew items, food bowl, etc., without any reaction from him, and he shares his bed with the cat without any issues). On the other hand, two years ago we had him looked after by friends who have two dogs, and he refused to let the dogs approach his mat, which still smelled like home. Otherwise, everything was fine. The only issue indoors is that Mundo feels he needs to protect us. He barks at the slightest noise outside the apartment and won’t let anyone enter without trying to nip. Regarding his strengths: He’s a dog with lots of love to give. At three and a half years old, he’s very calm, and despite his past in Romania—which surely wasn’t easy—he just wants to trust humans. What kind of family profile would suit him best, in your opinion? In my view, he’d need someone who knows dogs well, isn’t afraid of working with Mundo to address his guarding issues, and can support him during moments when he feels scared. They’ll need to be loving and patient. I don’t see any problem with having other dogs in the house, provided there’s a way to separate them if Mundo starts resource guarding again (which has only happened once, but I think it’s something to keep in mind). Do you think he’d need a family that already has another dog, or not? No, that’s not a requirement. Does he get along well with other dogs (both males and females)? Outdoors, absolutely no problem. Indoors, I’d say we’d need to retest that. Does he get along with cats? No problem at all—our cat adores him, and outdoors, Mundo doesn’t pay any attention to him. Is he house-trained? He can still have accidents indoors if more than 4.5–5 hours pass between walks. Does he know how to walk on a leash? Yes, no problem at all. Is he afraid of anything in particular (strangers, loud noises, crowds…)? Yes, he’s afraid of loud noises (construction, fireworks) and can get stressed in crowded places—but if accompanied by a human he trusts, it’s totally manageable. Is he used to walking in the city? Yes, we live in downtown Grenoble. Does he have a reliable recall? Yes, we’ve never had any problems. Can he stay alone for a while without worry? If chew toys and playthings are available, there’s no destruction, though he might have accidents indoors. Does he have any specific health issues? Are his vaccinations up to date? No (we’re currently updating them). What’s his current weight? 27 kg. Reason for abandonment: Family and health issues. Despite all our efforts, recovery is taking a long time. We need support, family members, and social workers coming into our apartment. It’s very stressful for Mundo; he keeps trying to nip. Despite all our love, we can’t manage to address the issue in this difficult context, and Mundo isn’t happy. We feel we owe it to him to offer him a better life, because that was our wish when we adopted him. Unfortunately, our personal situation has deteriorated, and we couldn’t have anticipated it. Today, Mundo is suffering through this situation with us, and we think it’s unacceptable. Il peut avoir peur de certains bruits (travaux par exemple) et se méfier des hommes avec des « bâtons » parapluie ou balais dans les mains. Mais aucune agressivité en extérieur. Il adore trouver des copains chiens qui lui courent apres c-est son jeu préféré. En intérieur c-est un chien qui aime être dans la même pièce que nous, qui réclame des câlins et qui s-entend parfaitement avec notre chat et notre fils. Il ne fait aucune protection de ressource vis-à-vis de nous (nous pouvons mon conjoint, mon fils, mon chat ou moi lui prendre ses jouets, sa mastication, sa gamelle ect sans aucune réponse de sa part, et il partage son panier avec le chat sans problème) en revanche nous l-avons fais garder il y a 2 ans par des amis qui ont deux chiens et il refusait que les chiens s-approchent de son tapis qui avait l-odeur de chez nous. Le reste c-était ok. Le seul soucis en intérieur c-est que Mundo croit devoir nous protéger. Il aboie au moindre bruit extérieur a l-appartement et ne laisse personne entrer sans essayer de pincer. Sur ses qualités : C-est un chien qui a beaucoup d-amour a donner. Pour un 3 ans et demi il est très calme et malgré son passé en Roumanie qui n-a pas du être facile, il ne demande qu-à accorder sa confiance aux humains. Quel profil de famille conviendrait selon vous ? Selon moi il faudrait quelqu-un qui connait bien les chiens, qui n-a pas peur de devoir travailler avec Mundo pour régler le problème de garde et l-accompagner dans les moments où il a peur. Il faut quelqu-un d-aimant et de patient. Je ne vois pas de problème a ce qu-il y ai d-autres chiens dans la maison si il y a une possibilité de les séparer si Mundo fait a nouveau de la protection de ressources (ce n-est arrivé qu-une fois mais je pense que c-est a garder en tête) Selon vous, aura-t-il besoin d'une famille ayant déjà un autre chien ou pas ? Non ce n-est pas un besoin S'entend-il bien avec les autres chiens (mâles et femelles) ? En extérieur sans aucun problème. En intérieur c-est a re-tester a mon avis S'entend-il avec les chats ? Aucun problème avec notre chat ils s-adorent et en extérieur Mundo ne les calcule pas du tout Est-il propre ? Il peut encore faire ses besoins en intérieur si plus de 4h30/5h entre les balades. Est-ce qu-il sait marcher en laisse ? Oui sans problème A-t-il peur de quelque chose en particulier (inconnus, bruit, agitation…) ? Oui il a peur des bruits forts (travaux feux d-artifices) et peu être stressé dans les lieux avec beaucoup de monde mais si accompagné par un humain en qui il a confiance c-est tout a fait gérable A-t-il l-habitude de se promener en ville ? Non (nous sommes en train de les mettre a jour) Quel est son poids actuel ? 27kg Raison de l-abandon : Problème familiale et santé Malgré toute notre volonté, le retablissement est long. Nous devons nous faire accompagner, avoir de la famille et des assistantes sociales qui viennent dans notre appartement . C-est très stressant pour Mundo, il continue a vouloir pincer. Malgré tout notre amour, nous n-arrivons pas à travailler le problème dans ce contexte difficile et Mundo n-est pas heureux. Nous pensons que nous nous devons de lui offrir une meilleure vie, car c-était notre souhait en l-adoptant. Malheureusement notre situation personnelle s-est dégradé et nous ne pouvions pas l-anticiper. Aujourd-hui Mundo subit cette situation avec nous et nous pensons que ce n-est pas acceptable.
