Tommy, who is about 8 years old, came to us as a stray. This big black-and-white fellow has already melted our hearts in the short time he’s been with us. By nature, he tends to be somewhat reserved and stays in the background among the other cats in the room. But if you approach him calmly, you’ll soon realize that this is just an act—and that he actually loves being petted and craves our attention. Tommy is gentle and calm, and he’s looking for owners with similar qualities. We’ve noticed that he gets along well with older, quiet children, but even a single person—who spends plenty of time at home—could be a great match for him, as long as that person treats him with the same gentleness and love that he shows others. We also think it would be lovely for him to have access to the outdoors. It doesn’t have to be a large or spectacular space—as long as he can sit in the sunshine and soak up all those wonderful scents. He finds other cats exciting, and we suspect that’s the main reason he prefers staying in the background; so let’s not disturb him too much. Do you have a quiet environment with some outdoor space? Tommy van ongeveer 8 is als zwerver bij ons binnen gekomen. Deze grote zwart-witte kerel heeft in de korte tijd dat hij bij ons is, onze harten al doen smelten. Hij is van nature wat afwachtend en blijft tussen de andere katten in de ruimte op de achtergrond. Maar wie hem rustig benadert, komt er al gauw achter dat dat maar een houding is en dat hij eigenlijk dolgraag geaaid wil worden en onze aandacht wil. Tommy is dus zachtaardig en rustig, en hij zoekt baasjes met dezelfde eigenschappen. We zien hem wel opschieten met oudere rustige kinderen, maar ook iemand alleen (die lekker veel thuis is) kan een goede match voor hem zijn. Als diegene hem maar met dezelfde zachtheid en liefde behandelt als hij zelf doet. We denken ook dat het leuk voor hem is om naar buiten te kunnen. Hoeft geen grote of spectaculaire ruimte te zijn, als hij er maar in het zonnetje kan zitten en de geuren opsnuiven. Andere katten vindt hij spannend en we vermoeden dat die de belangrijkste reden zijn dat hij hier op de achtergrond blijft, dat doen we dus beter niet.
