Shiba-Inu-Mix Yuki probably hadn't experienced much in his life before he arrived at the animal shelter on November 25, 2025. Consequently, new situations still overwhelm him somewhat. Since he tends to defend his resources, we’re looking for a calm household for him—without children—where he’ll be with confident people who can “read” him, set clear boundaries, and continue practicing with him. However, Yuki also likes to show his playful side to his trusted caregivers and hardly causes any problems anymore at the shelter. Nevertheless, it’s important that this issue—defending his sleeping spot and food—be addressed in his new home. As for his interactions with other dogs, Yuki, born on June 27, 2024, gets along well depending on mutual sympathy. The Shiba is an ancient Japanese breed. Its natural habitat was the mountainous region along the Sea of Japan, where it was used for hunting small game and birds. Shibas are exceptionally clever dogs. They impress with their intelligence and independence; they’re also lively, sharp-witted, and loyal. Towards strangers, a Shiba may be somewhat reserved. This breed doesn’t tend to bark incessantly. The Shiba is one of the calmer and more balanced breeds.
