Adopt Nicki und Maxi

Dear animal shelter team, first of all, we wish you all a good new year! We took in the two older tomcats Maxi (black-and-white) and Nicki (tiger-striped and white) about a month ago, and we would like to report how the two are doing. They needed a bit of help, and in the first few days, they mostly lived in the washing machine (where they still retreat to when they get scared, like during New Year's Eve). We have set up two boxes with blankets as caves for them in there, as well as an additional room with a couch and many sleeping options. Maxi especially likes to sleep in the latter. The couch in the living room is also used for sleeping and snuggling, as you can see in the attached photos. Nicki is the more accessible of the two, is very close to us, and enjoys being stroked a lot. Maxi also enjoys being stroked, but often keeps a bit of distance, which is however improving increasingly. The two eat well but are rather picky and demand a different alternative when the current food doesn't suit them. It's nice that they don't fight over the food and share it throughout the day. Currently, we are not letting them out yet, as we want to be sure that they accept our house as their safe home. Since they have not been pushing to go out so far, we don't have any urgency. In summary, we feel that the two are, albeit slowly, settling in well with us.

Liebes Tierheim-Team, zunächst wünschen wir Euch allen ein gutes neues Jahr! Wir haben vor einem guten Monat die beiden älteren Kater Maxi (schwarz-weiß) und Nicki (getigert-weiß) übernommen und möchten Euch gern berichten, wie es den beiden geht. Sie haben etwas gebraucht, haben die ersten Tage vor allem im Waschkeller gewohnt (wohin sie sich jetzt noch zurückziehen, wenn sie sich erschrecken, wie z. B. in der Silvesternacht). Wir haben ihnen dort zwei Kisten mit Decken als Höhlen sowie ein zusätzliches Zimmer mit Couch und vielen Schlafmöglichkeiten eingerichtet. In letzterem schläft vor allem Maxi gern. Auch die Couch im Wohnzimmer wird gern zum Schlafen und Kuscheln genutzt, wie Ihr auf den Bildern anbei sehen könnt. Nicki ist der Zugänglichere von beiden, ist sehr viel in unserer Nähe und lässt sich gern und viel streicheln. Auch Maxi lässt sich gern streicheln, er hält aber oft noch Abstand, was aber auch zunehmend besser wird. Die beiden fressen ganz gut, sind aber doch wählerisch und verlangen dann auch vehement eine Alternative, wenn ihnen das aktuelle Futter nicht zusagt. Schön ist, dass sie nicht um das Futter streiten und es sich über den Tag einteilen. Aktuell lassen wir die beiden noch nicht raus, da wir erst sicher sein wollen, dass sie unser Haus als ihr sicheres Zuhause akzeptieren. Da sie aber bislang nicht rausdrängen, haben wir hier keine Eile. Zusammengefasst haben wir das Gefühl, dass sich die beiden– wenn auch langsam – bei uns gut einleben. Herzliche Grüße
