Daphne is looking for a patient and understanding family who will allow her to build relationships at her own pace. She can feel conflicted when meeting new people and is currently worried by handling, having her lead clipped on, and grooming, but with time, consistency and trust she has already shown that she becomes much more comfortable. Her adopters will need to commit to multiple meets at the centre before she goes home to help her feel secure, and they should be prepared to gradually introduce her to the wider world, as she has had very little experience beyond the kennel environment. Daphne could potentially live with a calm, confident dog following a successful mix at the centre, and she could also live with sensible children aged 14 and over who understand the importance of giving her space and letting her build a relationship on her own terms. She could be left for short periods in the future, but this would need to be built up gradually from scratch. With patience, kindness and plenty of encouragement, Daphne will reward her new family by blossoming into a loyal, fun loving companion. Daphne will have ongoing eye issues which can be discussed more upon application. Daphne is a beautiful 4-6 year old Terrier cross with a playful personality that's just waiting to shine in the right home. While she can be nervous when people first approach her kennel, she's happy to relax in her space and is a completely different dog once she's out and about. Daphne loves exploring new places, taking in all the interesting sights and smells before inviting her handlers to join in a game. She's happy to keep herself entertained but also enjoys playful interactions with the people she knows. She is still discovering how much fun toys can be, so her new family will have lots of opportunities to help her build confidence through play. Tasty treats are the key to Daphne's heart and are a fantastic way to earn her trust and strengthen your bond.
