Millie is a very special girl, and that is exactly why we chose her to represent an extraordinary milestone for Dogsnhomes Rescue: our 1,000th dog rescued. We could easily have chosen another irresistible puppy, but Millie represents the very heart of rescue. At four years young, she has already experienced more rejection and uncertainty than any dog should. When she no longer fitted into her first owners’ lives, she was discarded and left to survive alone on the streets. But street life is no place for such a gentle, people-loving little girl. Despite everything she has been through, Millie remains incredibly affectionate and greets everyone she meets with warmth and love. She has not allowed her difficult past to change her beautiful nature, and she is happiest when she is close to people and receiving the kindness she has always deserved. There will be many ordinary parts of home life that are completely new to Millie. Vacuum cleaners, large televisions and other everyday household sights and sounds may seem strange at first. Her adopters will need to introduce her gently to these new experiences and give her the time, patience and reassurance she needs to understand that she is finally safe. Millie may not be a puppy, (although she’s the size of a puppy) but that is precisely what makes her such a fitting 1,000th rescue. She embodies everything rescue is about: giving a forgotten dog a second chance, helping her leave survival behind and showing her what it truly means to belong. We are looking for a loving, patient home where Millie will never again be treated as disposable. In return, her adopters will gain a devoted, affectionate companion who has been waiting far too long for someone to choose her forever. Millie will arrive fully vaccinated and with comprehensive health checks, including: Most of our dogs have been found abandoned as young pups, discarded as unwanted litters, as is often the case in Portugal where neutering is not as common as in the UK. After rescue, all of our pups spend time in private shelters and foster homes, meaning they arrive happy, healthy and well socialised. UK Registered Charity Number 1183775
