Nala is a beautiful Staffy/Amstaff-mix girl with a shiny fox-red coat, who came to us after she was left behind by her humans, who left the country. She was in a foster home for a short time after being abandoned, in order to avoid entering to the government perrera, where dogs mostly never leave again. As soon as Nala arrived to the shelter, she started to win the hearts of volunteers, with her active, curious, very happy nature. She loves to be around humans and is always ready for walks, outdoors action, games, and anything that she can do together with humans. Even when she is sniffing th bushes and zooming around the dog parks, she regularily checks in on the humans who are with her, perhaps because they might have a treat for her! She loves treats, but she also loves the attention and cuddles. Nala is a playful sweet dog, yes, she can be strong on the leash especially around the shelter, after she has waited for a very long time to finally go for a walk, but she has such positivity and sweetness about her, that it is easy to get over the strength on the leash. Once she goes to a different environment, like to the beach, forest, a cafeteria, she shows what a home-ready dog she really is. She behaves very very well outside the shelter, she listens when you call her and she builds a connection with humans very quickly. Nala loves to jump in the car and go on a ride with you. In a Cafeteria or park benches, she would gladly use the chance to come cuddle on your lap, and get all of your attention and affection. Nala is really looking for a home and human, who are happy to spend a lot of time together with their dog, to be in physical contact. She does need some leash training, for sure, so an experienced dog owner would be best for her, to work with her and reduce the pulling on the leash, which can take a bit of time. She listens to guidance and corrections very quickly, then walks really nicely on the leash, but then forgets in a bit of time, that she was not supposed to pull on the leash. When visiting a cafeteria, she behaved very well, and rested next to the humans. Nala hasn’t had much training or guidance in the past, but she is intelligent, eager to learn and picks things up very quickly. Nala is a curious dog, she loves to explore, look around, meet new people and also friendly dogs, and she does not make a trouble about anything (except for cats when confronted directly with them). She likes to meet other dogs in relaxed environments, in a calm setting, and then walks with them very relaxed together. She is also excellent with children and families with children! Nala could well live together with a social, playful, kind other dog, preferably male, or she could be a single dog of a home. In her kennel, she sits directly by the door every day all day, looking at everyone who passes with hope in her eyes, oh, is that maybe my person…? And then when finally it is her turn to go for her daily walk, she gets so excited, and tries to pack all her love and energy into a small 30-minute walk and connection with a volunteer. Her shoulder height is just 45cm, she is actually a small girl. To adopt Nala in Spain, one would need to make a PPP registration, which the shelter can help with. Nala is also available for international adoption. She is looking for a human, who is interested in physical activities, hiking, trips to the forest, beach etc. She also absolutely loves to train in agility, tricks, obedience, and she would make an excellent companion to a human who is interested in hobby canine training. After a busy day, Nala is more than happy to curl up, chill out and have a well-earned snooze preferably with a little snoring included.
