Stracciatella, a beautiful female cat, was found about two months ago and brought to our shelter. She had no identification and unfortunately also wasn't spayed. Initially, Stracciatella caused us some concern because she hardly ate and her blood tests were alarming at times. Now, Stracciatella is almost unrecognizable as she has a good appetite, appears much fitter and more alert, which is also reflected in the much better blood test results. As with many female cats that are spayed at an older age, a "full spay" was necessary for Stracciatella, meaning removal of ovaries and uterus. Although it took longer, Stracciatella is now happy to introduce herself. She looks curious from her cage and leaves her favorite resting places only too willingly when two-legged visitors approach. She enjoys contact with humans; however, she can also clearly communicate her boundaries. As long as Stracciatella decides, there are usually no problems. For example, if she is fixed or lifted up at the vet, she generally doesn't like it and communicates this - either by kicking or loud meowing. Stracciatella has a more or less charming trait of lovingly nibbling on our fingers. Sometimes she overdoes it; either because she is cheeky and wants to test boundaries or because she really can't estimate. In summary, Stracciatella is actually like most cats imagine: affectionate but with her own head and strong character. Due to her sometimes fierce love bites, she doesn't fit children or cat beginners. We suspect that Stracciatella wouldn't get along well with other cats. She growls at the sight of other cats and would probably not tolerate them next to her. Even though Stracciatella is no longer a young cat, she has a lot of energy and a desire to discover many things. After a few weeks of settling into her new home, she wants to enjoy outdoor time.

Die bildhübsche Stracciatella wurde vor etwa zwei Monaten gefunden und zu uns ins Tierheim gebracht. Sie war nicht gekennzeichnet und leider auch nicht kastriert. Anfangs hat Stracciatella uns leider einige Sorgen bereitet, denn sie hat kaum gefressen und auch ihre Blutwerte waren teilweise alarmierend. Inzwischen ist Stracciatella kaum wiederzuerkennen, denn sie hat ordentlich Appetit, wirkt insgesamt viel fitter und aufgeweckter, was sich auch bei den viel besseren Blutwerten zeigt. Wie bei so vielen weiblichen Katzen, die erst im höheren Alter kastriert werden, war auch bei Stracciatella leider eine ‘Vollkastration’ notwendig, also eine Entfernung von Eierstöcken und Gebärmutter. Es hat somit zwar etwas länger gedauert, aber Stracciatella freut sich nun, sich endlich vorstellen zu können. Sie schaut neugierig aus ihrem Zwinger und verlässt nur zu gerne ihre Lieblingsliegeplätze, wenn sich zweibeiniger Besuch nähert. Kontakt zu Menschen findet sie sehr toll; kann dabei aber auch sehr deutlich ihre Grenzen kommunizieren. Solange Stracciatella entscheiden kann, gibt es meist keine Probleme. Wird sie z.B. beim Tierarzt fixiert oder hochgehoben, findet sie das in der Regel nicht so gut und kommuniziert das auch – entweder durch Strampeln oder lautstarkes Miauen. Stracciatella hat die mehr oder weniger charmante Eigenschaft, liebevoll an unseren Fingern zu knabbern. Dabei übertreibt sie es manchmal; entweder weil sie frech ist und die Grenzen austesten will oder weil sie es wirklich nicht einschätzen kann. Zusammengefasst ist Stracciatella eigentlich so wie sich die meisten Katzen vorstellen: anschmiegsam, aber mit einem eigenen Kopf und starkem Charakter. Aufgrund ihrer zeitweise heftigen Liebesbisse passt sie nicht zu Kindern oder Katzenanfängern. Wir vermuten, dass Stracciatella mit Artgenossen nicht zurecht kommen würde. Sie faucht immer mal wieder beim Anblick anderer Katzen und würde sie wahrscheinlich nicht neben sich dulden. Auch wenn Stracciatella keine ganz junge Katze mehr ist, hat sie eine Menge Energie und Lust vieles zu entdecken. Nach ein paar Wochen der Eingewöhnung im neuen Zuhause möchte sie dann Freigang genießen dürfen.
