Ted is an extremely handsome 8-year-old Cavalier who came into rescue under very sad circumstances and through absolutely no fault of his own. Since settling into foster care, Ted’s lovely personality has really started to shine. He is a playful boy who thoroughly enjoys his toys and balls, but he also has a wonderfully affectionate side and loves climbing onto your knee for a cuddle. Although Ted enjoys plenty of love and companionship, he is also happy to relax in his own space when he chooses. He has a lovely balance of being affectionate without needing to be constantly attached to his person. Ted is comfortable around younger children and is also cat-friendly. He gets along well with other dogs, although he does not need to live with one and could be perfectly happy as the only dog in his new home. He walks extremely well on his lead, both when walking alone and alongside other dogs. Ted also travels well on the back seat of the car secured with a harness. Ted does experience some mild separation anxiety, so he is looking for a home where someone will be around for most of the day. His adopter will need to help him gradually build confidence with being left for short periods. Ted has Chiari-like malformation and takes inexpensive daily medication. His pain is currently well controlled, and his medication will need to be continued in his new home. He has had a major dental procedure while in rescue. He is up to date with vaccinations and parasite preventatives. Ted also has grade 2 luxating patellas in both knees. He is currently walking comfortably and is not showing any signs of pain, so surgery is not required at present. His knees will need to be monitored by his adopter and veterinarian.
