This dog arrived with us following an investigation of animal neglect. He spent the majority of his life confined to a cage, without stimulation, discovery, or any form of education. His past explains the behavioral challenges he faces today. He can be reactive to cars, showing a predatory interest, having likely never been accustomed to a normal outdoor environment. When he is highly excited or frustrated, he may pull and tug on his leash. He may also grip quite strongly during interactions with people on walks. These behaviors are not a result of malice but a lack of learning and reference points. However, he does have real potential for improvement if an appropriate program is implemented with patience, consistency, and kindness.

Ce chien est arrivé chez nous suite à une enquête pour maltraitance. Il a passé la majeure partie de sa vie enfermé dans une cage, sans stimulations, sans découvertes et sans aucune éducation. Ce passé explique les difficultés comportementales qu’il présente aujourd’hui. Il peut se montrer réactif aux voitures, qu’il cherche à prédater, n’ayant probablement jamais été habitué à un environnement extérieur normal. Lorsqu’il est en forte excitation ou en situation de frustration, il peut tirer et mordiller sa laisse. Il peut également arriver qu’il pince assez fortement lors de croisements avec des personnes en promenade. Ces comportements ne sont pas le fruit de méchanceté mais d’un manque total d’apprentissage et de repères. Il possède toutefois un réel potentiel d’évolution si un travail adapté est mis en place avec patience, cohérence et bienveillance.
