Here you can see the current waiting list of dogs eagerly awaiting their chance in Germany. These are dogs that we have taken in or rescued from all over Gallura. Animals that came under our care thanks to our tireless prevention work. The shelter we run in Buon Camino complements our preventive work on the streets of Gallura and is part of a comprehensive concept that culminates in a future for the dogs in Germany. We only have a small number of places there, and every dog that occupies a place for a long time takes away the opportunity for other dogs to be rescued. Many are eagerly waiting on chains or in kennels or on the streets for a place at the Rifugio to become available. The dogs we introduce to you here individually have already taken one step further but are still far from the goal, which is to find their own home or a suitable foster home in Germany: WAITING LIST (most recent entries at the end) 07.2019: Two black sisters have been looking for homes since puppyhood. Zoe and Zia were dropped off at our Rifugio with their siblings in the summer of 2019. Back then, the seven puppies were still optimistic about what life might hold for them. They showed themselves as playful and curious puppies. Four of the seven little ones found safe homes in Germany in the same year and got to learn how life works in such unique families during the important puppy stage. Brother Zeno followed two years later to Germany. Zoe and Zia have not had the luck so far and they only know the stressful daily life at the Rifugio. We always try to prepare the dogs for life with humans even on-site, but especially with shy dogs, the time often lacks. So the two sisters decided to keep a distance from strangers after the long wait. Here you can access Zia's adoption page. Vanda and her three siblings were born far from civilization and hustle and bustle in 2019. Their mother, a wild hunting dog, decided to live without human contact, and so her puppies also grew up completely isolated. When the four puppies became more mobile, they were a bit less cautious than their mother and were discovered and captured. Free-roaming dogs are not accepted by the government in Italy, so they were brought to our Rifugio. While her three siblings were rehomed in 2020, Vanda was left behind alone. Here you can access Vanda's adoption page. 17.12.2021: Lapo - Goodbye darkness and gloom. Lapo comes from a cramped small cage of a state-run animal shelter (Canile), a terrifying place for dogs. The biting smell, constant loud noise level, and confinement were something the male dog experienced firsthand, but he could not see much at this horrifying place because his rolled eyelids made every blink extremely painful. Animal rescuer Rosella noticed Lapo and asked us for help, so Lapo was freed. Here you can access Lapo's adoption page. 02.09.2022: Oluccia - who has been missing since puppyhood. When Oluccia was sighted and caught while roaming, the collar was already tightly wrapped around her neck. Who knows what situation she once freed herself from; she is definitely a very frightened little dog and is now recovering at the Rifugio from the hardships of her young life. Here you can access Oluccia's adoption page. 31.03.2023: Fidia, Flora, and Fonzi - want to arrive and belong. The siblings Fonzi, Flora, and Fidia were secretly abandoned in the garden of a lone-dwelling, animal-loving senior citizen one night. Since she cannot care for the dogs long-term, she asked us for help. While Flora found a home in Germany in December 2023, Fidia found a nice home in Sardinia in February 2025. Fonzi is the only one of the three still waiting at our Rifugio for his own good home. Here you can access Fonzi's adoption page. 06.03.2024: Sherlock, Silas, Smilla, and Stella – cuddly puppies seeking loving homes. Sherlock was left to fend for himself on a property with his mom Sophie and his three siblings by an irresponsible owner. Our collaborator Rossella tried to place the small family somewhere, but in Sardinia, the situation is similar to ours in Germany: the shelters are FULL, at least those that enjoy a relatively good reputation. While Silas found a home in Germany in September 2024, Smilla got to travel to a foster home in December 20. This animal was surrendered to the shelter. This animal can be anxious in unfamiliar situations.
