A large number of dogs live on the streets in Romania. Although some individuals learn to cope with dangers such as traffic and lack of food, streets are never a good option for dogs. There are many people living in Romania who do not care about homeless dogs. Many of them abuse dogs or call the authorities immediately upon seeing even a glimpse of a dog. This happened to Batman when he still lived on the streets. The authorities came to catch him in a notorious municipal shelter kennel, where the survival rate is extremely poor. A woman living in the area found out about Batman's fate. Therefore, she asked her friend Carmen so that she could take Batman to her shelter. Carmen agreed, and thus Batman was taken by the woman to Carmen's shelter kennel. Batman is calm and balanced at the shelter kennel. Like many dogs that have lived on the streets, he seems very wise and attentive. He has learned to avoid people and therefore does not come within touching distance even of familiar people. Otherwise, he calmly follows the person's movements and especially enjoys treats, which he accepts gladly. Batman hardly barks at all at the shelter kennel and is otherwise very gentle. He has gotten along well with quiet kennel mates and would certainly enjoy a peaceful retirement home in Finland. Batman's left front leg is slightly crooked due to an old injury. The leg position can no longer be corrected, and in Finland it will be necessary to focus on supportive treatment and make sure that he has appropriate pain medication for his leg if needed.

Romanian kaduilla elää valtava määrä koiria. Vaikka jotkut yksilöt oppivat elämään vaarojen, kuten liikenteen ja ruoan vähyyden kanssa, eivät kadut silti koskaan ole koirille hyvä vaihtoehto. Romaniassa elää paljon ihmisiä, jotka eivät välitä kodittomista koirista. Monet kohdistavat koiriin väkivaltaa tai soittavat paikalle rankkurit heti, kun näkevät vilauksenkin koirasta. Näin kävi Batmanille, kun hän vielä asui kadulla. Rankkurit kävivät pyydystämässä hänet pahamaineiselle kunnalliselle tarhalle, josta selviytymisprosentti on äärimmäisen huono. Eräs alueella asuva nainen sai tietää Batmanin kohtalosta. Niinpä hän pyysi ystäväänsä Carmenia, jotta tämä voisi ottaa Batmanin tarhalleen turvaan. Carmen suostui, ja niin Batman pääsi naisen kyydillä muuttamaan Carpen tarhalle.Batman on tarhalla rauhallinen ja tasapainoinen. Kuten monet kaduilla eläneet koirat, myös hän vaikuttaa hyvin viisaalta ja tarkkaavaiselta. Hän on oppinut väistämään ihmistä, eikä siksi tule kosketusetäisyydelle edes tuttujen kanssa. Muuten hän seurailee rauhallisesti ihmisen touhuja ja erityisesti herkut hän ottaa vastaan mielellään. Batman ei tarhalla hauku juuri lainkaan ja on muutenkin kovin eleetön. Hän on tullut hyvin toimeen rauhallisten häkkikavereiden kanssa ja nauttisikin varmasti rauhallisesta eläkekodista myös Suomessa.Batmanin vasen etujalka on vanhasta vammasta johtuen hieman kiero. Jalan asentoa ei enää voi korjata, vaan Suomessa tulee keskittyä tukihoitoihin ja huolehtimaan, että hänellä on tarvittaessa sopiva kipulääkitys jalkaa varten.
