Fin, born approximately December 2023( black and white), Sheldon, born appoximately Decemeber 2023( Black and white, white patch on face) and Taddington, born appoximatley March 2025(Black) These cats can be rehomed separately or together. They are 3 of 11 young and adult cats who were abandoned together in a small crate on a farm in Wheston in the Peak District. The owner arrived at home to find a crate full of cats in her yard towards the end of April and immediately got the crate into her vehicle and brought them to us. They were all on top of each other in the cramped space and covered in their own excrement. Luckily we had one double pen available so they were settled there for the night and the following day they were sorted into the males and females, other cats being shuffled to make our larger pens available so we could split them into smaller groups. 2 of the 4 females were also well into pregnancy (one has had 2 kittens and one had 3, so the grand total from that one emergency admission was 16 precious lives). All of the gang are quite nervous and several, although young, had gum and dental disease to a greater or lesser extent. Fin had quite severe dental disease and gingivitis and tested positive for calicivirus so we expect all the gang to have been exposed to this. Fin needed to have 13 teeth removed - they were all very loose so came out easily and his mouth is healing although he still has sore gums. We hope these will settle now the offending teeth have been removed but the vets think he may eventually need further extractions. Sheldon also had several teeth removed and his mouth has healed well. Taddington's teeth were good and he didn't need a dental. All the cats from the Wheston group will need to be fed a good quality food which should help to minimise any build up of plaque. We are feeding them Hills dental dry food but ultimately they will need monitoring and may suffer from poor dental health requiring extractions. These cats are best homed with fully vaccinated cats, or paired with other cats from their own group (or as singles). They are starting to come out of their shells and will allow gentle, careful handling. They will panic if we go too fast but are not aggressive so just need more time and patience to gain their trust. They have all now been castrated, microchipped, treated for fleas and worms, and vaccinated. After their poor starts in life this little gang of cats are ready to find the love and care which has been missing from their lives until now.
