A big HELLO to all experienced dog people with a strong hand. I am Giacomo, a friendly, calm and watchful male dog. Anyone who looks into my eyes cannot prevent themselves from falling in love with me despite my imposing appearance. Probably due to the loss of my owner and the dog pack, I pay great attention to make sure everyone is there. If I notice someone is missing, it can even happen that I cry at the door waiting. My foster family thinks I have inherited the stubbornness of a Bernese Mountain Dog, because sometimes I just stay where I want to lie. To make me clear that I am not the "boss", a lot of consistency and at least as much patience is needed. However, once that is achieved, I am a confident companion who certainly knows the basic commands. I have a great need for movement and really like to run alongside a bicycle. Due to my size and strength, of course only with appropriate equipment. Also on walks, my people should be very attentive because I like to have my nose in the wind or on the ground and enormous stability is required if I suddenly take off. Outside my territory, I am very compatible with my fellow animals, but I don't like it when they want to visit me in my garden. With people I may bark, but I calm down quickly, then I like to be scratched and reward everyone with my very special look. There should be a garden in my new home because it gives me a lot of joy to catch a ball or the jet of a hose. Come visit me and you will see, I am a wonderful dog!

Ein großes HALLO an alle hundeerfahrenen Menschen mit starker Hand. Ich bin Giacomo, ein freundlicher, ruhiger und wachsamer Rüde. Wer mir in die Augen sieht, kann trotz meiner imposanten Erscheinung nicht verhindern, sich in mich zu verlieben. Vermutlich durch den Verlust meines Frauchens und des Hunderudels, achte ich sehr darauf, dass alle da sind. Merke ich, dass einer fehlt, kann es auch schon mal vorkommen, dass ich weinend an der Türe warte. Meine Pflegefamilie meint, ich hätte die Sturheit des Berner Sennen Hundes geerbt, denn es kommt schon mal vor, dass ich da liegen bleibe, wo ICH liegen möchte. Um mir klar zu machen, dass nicht ich der “Bestimmer” bin, bedarf es ein großes Maß an Konsequenz und mindestens genau so viel Geduld. Hat man das allerdings erreicht, bin ich ein souveräner Begleiter, der die Grundkommandos durchaus beherrscht. Ich besitze einen großen Bewegungsdrang und mag es sehr gerne am Fahrrad mitzulaufen. Aufgrund meiner Größe und Kraft natürlich nur mit entsprechender Ausstattung. Auch beim Spaziergang sollten meine Menschen sehr aufmerksam sein denn ich trage meine Nase gerne im Wind oder auf dem Boden und es ist enorme Standfestigkeit gefragt, falls ich einmal durchstarte. Außerhalb meines Reviers bin ich mit meinen Artgenossen sehr verträglich, mag es allerdings nicht, wenn sie mich in meinem Garten besuchen wollen. Bei Menschen schlage ich zwar an,beruhige mich aber ganz schnell wieder, lasse mich dann gerne kraulen und belohne jeden mit meinem ganz besonderen Blick. Einen Garten sollte es in meinem neuen Zuhause schon geben, weil es mir unheimlich viel Freude bereitet, einen Ball oder auch den Strahl eines Wasserschlauches zu fangen. Kommt mich doch einfach mal besuchen und ihr werdet sehen, ich bin ein ganz toller Hund!
