Henryk is a wonderful, well-behaved tomcat who, thanks to his charm and easygoing nature, has swapped the cat shelter for the shelter’s office—living there alongside his rabbit roommate. He was born in allotment gardens and spent most of his life there. At the shelter, he quickly became known as a friendly, purring companion. Unfortunately, tests revealed that he carries the FeLV virus (feline leukemia). For this reason, Henryk is looking for a home either as an only pet or as a companion to another cat also carrying the virus. While the disease will eventually make itself felt, at the moment Henryk is doing great and shows no signs of illness. Henryk is a special cat—he’s incredibly gentle and loves human company. He’d surely quickly become someone’s best friend. This cat is FeLV-positive. What does FeLV+ mean? It’s the feline leukemia virus, which can ONLY infect CATS—not you or your dog. The virus spreads between cats through contact with saliva (shared bowls, grooming), shared litter boxes, and from mother to kittens. Cats with FeLV can live happily alongside other FeLV-positive cats as well as other animals—for example, a rabbit. Treatment for FeLV focuses on managing its symptoms (which cats often don’t show for a long time), and with proper care—including a special diet, regular veterinary check-ups, and a safe, calm environment—cats can live long, comfortable lives. 🙂

Henryk to cudowny, stateczny kocur, który ze względu na swój urok i bezproblemowość zamiast na kociarni zamieszkał w biurze schroniska, wraz ze swoim króliczym współlokatorem. Urodził się na ogródkach działkowych i spędził tam większość swojego życia. W schronisku dał się poznać jako towarzyski i mruczący jegomość. Niestety badania wykazały, że jest nosicielem wirusa FeLV (kociej białaczki). W związku z tym Henryk szuka domu jako jedynak lub towarzysz innego kota z tym wirusem. W przyszłości choroba da o sobie znać, ale na ten moment czuje się bardzo dobrze i nic mu nie dolega. Henryk to wyjątkowy kot, który jest bardzo łagodny i kocha towarzystwo człowieka. Na pewno szybko stałby się czyimś najlepszym przyjacielem. Ten kot jest nosicielem FeLV. Czym jest FeLV+? Jest to wirus białaczki kotów, którym zarazić się mogą TYLKO KOTY – a więc ani Ty, ani Twój pies. Przenosi się między kotami przez kontakt ze śliną (wspólne miski, pielęgnacja), wspólne kuwety i z matki na kocięta. Koty z FeLV mogą mieszkać z innymi kotami zakażonymi FeLV oraz z innymi zwierzętami – np. z królikiem. Leczenie FeLV to leczenie jego objawów (których koty często długo nie wykazują), a przy odpowiedniej opiece (dieta, regularne kontrole weterynaryjne i bezpieczne, spokojne środowisko) kot może żyć długo i komfortowo. 🙂
