Extra large (38kg) We remember the day we found Jessica like it was yesterday. She was lying at the side of a road in Romania; a broken, tiny soul, barely breathing. Our team stopped, genuinely believing their help had come too late. But when they reached down, there was the faintest spark of life. She was placed in the car and rushed straight to the vet for lifesaving treatment, and against every single odd, Jessie fought so hard and won. Our beautiful tiny miracle. To watch this girl blossom from a dying pup, into the stunning, healthy, gentle giant she is today, is one of the greatest privileges of rescue work. When she came to the UK we truly thought she had found her happy ever after. Sadly, after three years in a home, our darling girl has been returned to rescue. We are all completely distraught for our sweet girl, but so happy she’s back with us safe and loved, we promise to protect her until the right forever loving home comes along. Jessie Walks very well on lead. She completed dog training courses and responds amazingly to high value treats (though, in true giant-breed fashion, she sometimes picks and chooses when to listen). Jessie loves playing with other dogs, chasing toys, paddling in water and stealing shoes. She gets on well with children, but due to her size (38kg) and complete lack of spatial awareness, she can accidentally bump into little ones and knock them over. She will also happily steal food or lick faces if she smells treats. Jessie is cautious around men (especially if they wear hats). During storms or fireworks, she will snuggle away into a cosy, covered safe den. She is deeply affectionate to those she trusts. A true guardian at heart. Jessie can be defensive towards strangers entering the home Jessie needs someone with experience of large/guardian breeds, a home within a rural or semi-rural setting, a spacious, securely fenced garden with a lawn and time, patience, and endless love to guide her as she settles back into a routine Jessie can live with other friendly dogs As you can imagine, each one of our dogs is very precious to us, they haven’t had the best start in life and therefore it is absolutely crucial we find the right homes for them. When you complete a registration form, please tell us as much as you can about why you are looking to adopt a dog and how you think you can meet their needs. Every dog is an individual and our amazing rehoming team will know exactly what type of home each dog needs to thrive. For example, will the dog cope with a small garden or is it the type of dog who needs to live in a rural environment? Will the dog enjoy being around children, or is it best suited to an adult only home? Will it cope sharing a home with other pets, or is it best as an only dog? Are you outdoorsy types who like to go hiking, or would you prefer a dog who is happy to snuggle up on the sofa with you? Our rehoming team will be very familiar with the needs of each of our dogs and the information you provide on your application form will help them to match you with the right dog.
