At just two years old, Marta has already experienced the fear and uncertainty of a life without safety. This beautiful young mother was found in terrible conditions alongside her five-month-old puppy, Zorro, with both of their futures hanging in the balance. Thankfully, a chance encounter during another rescue meant that Marta and her little boy would not be left behind. On 16th October 2026, our rescuers had been helping three dogs who were facing the prospect of being put to sleep. While carrying out that rescue, they discovered two more dogs desperately in need of help. It was Marta and her young son, Zorro, and the condition they were in was heartbreaking. Having already saved three lives, our team knew they couldn't walk away and leave this little family behind. An additional €45 was needed to secure each dog's release, and thankfully, both Marta and Zorro were rescued alongside the other three dogs. What had begun as an urgent mission to save three lives became an unexpected rescue of five, giving this frightened mother and her puppy a chance at a completely different future. Understandably, Marta was a little scared at first. After everything she had been through, suddenly finding herself in unfamiliar surroundings must have been overwhelming. But behind that initial fear was a wonderfully affectionate and good-natured girl who simply needed kindness, patience and the reassurance that she was finally safe.
