It was a crazy five days filled with helplessness and stress—dozens of volunteers tried to catch the kitten, which was wandering around with its intestines protruding. In the end, thanks to the amazing Zuzka, they succeeded, and the kitten—whom we’d started calling Utumbo—was immediately taken to the emergency clinic, where he underwent surgery. Miraculously, the outcome was far better than we’d dared to hope. After so many days on the streets, we’d feared it was already too late, but his intestine had been saved. The problem had been caused by roundworms, of which he’d been infested in abundance in his belly—and it was precisely these worms that could have complicated everything. Right now, Utumbo is recovering in temporary care; he’s on a special diet, and some time ago, he had to undergo the procedure again because his intestine had once more slipped out. Despite all these obstacles, he continues to fight bravely and is making great progress.

Bylo to šílených pět dní plných bezmoci a stresu – desítky dobrovolníků se snažily odchytit kotě, které se potulovalo s vyhřezlým střevem. Nakonec se to díky úžasné Zuze podařilo, a kotě – kterému jsme začaly říkat Utumbo – bylo okamžitě odvezeno na pohotovost, kde podstoupilo operaci. Zázrakem dopadla lépe, než jsme vůbec doufaly. Po tolika dnech na ulici jsme se obávaly, že už bude pozdě, ale střevo se podařilo zachránit. Problémy způsobily škrkavky, kterých měl v bříšku opravdu požehnaně, a právě ty mohly všechno zkomplikovat. Momentálně se Utumbo doléčuje v dočasné péči, je na speciální dietě a po nějaké době musel zákrok podstoupit znovu, protože se mu střevo opět vyhrnulo ven. I přes všechny tyto překážky bojuje dál a dělá velké pokroky.
