Mabel je středně velký kříženec ve věku okolo čtyř let. Nebyla testována s kočkami. Potřebuje přítomného psa. Respektující děti od 12 let. Mabel se k nám připravila před několika týdny z útulku Roxanas ve Velké Británii. Byla původně nalezena v blízkém obci, po tom co ona a její bratři byli opuštěni jako štěňata. Mabel je zdržovaná a zdrženlivá postava, která byla u svých dobrovolníků přibližně 12 týdnů, dělající postupné pokroky. Na začátku měla strach ze dotyku lidí, ale nedávno začala užívat laskání a bývá nadšená, když vidí známé tváře. Mabel potřebuje domov s nejméně jedním dalším psem jako trvalým obyvatelem, protože se silně spoléhá na svou stádo. Ráda chodí na procházky, ale upřednostňuje klidnější oblasti kvůli své citlivosti na dopravu. Může žít s respektujícími dětmi od 12 let. To vám udrží psa bezpečně: váš nový pes bude nervózní a nebude vám důvěřovat a nebudete vědět, které situace mohou vašeho psa rozzuřit. Pokud se pes vystraší, pak šlehačka je jediný způsob, jak zabránit prchání psa (mnoho psů může uniknout z kravice a/nebo sedačky). Bude potřeba alespoň 3–6 měsíců, aby se pes usadil a vy si ho plně znali (delší pro nervózní psy). Šlehačka musí být vždy použita během tohoto období usazování. I poté, co se pes usadí, je nejbezpečnější použít šlehačku v situacích, kde se pes může lekat (např. navštěva nových míst, kolem neznámých lidí, u veterináře), a v situacích, kde mohou nastat neočekávané stimuly (např. kolem Vánoc). Nervózní psi mohou mít vždy k dispozici šlehačku jako záložní bezpečnostní opatření. Šlehačka je bezpečnostní zařízení a nikdy nesmí být použita jako nástroj tréninku. Použití šlehačky k aplikování tlaku na krk psa je škodlivé. Pokud pes tahá za šlehačku, můžeme vám poradit s tréninkovými metodami, které nezpůsobí škodu. Jakmile se pes usadí, můžete zvážit použití sedačky (spolu s šlehačkou), pokud pes snese obsluhu při nasazení. Většina sedaček není odolná proti úniku, ale sedačky se řemenem za žebrami (např. Ruffwear Webmaster nebo Perfect Fit Sedáky) jsou bezpečnější. Pohyblivé / roztažitelné řetězy nesmí být použity na naše psy. Mabel is a medium sized crossbreed aged around four years old. Not cat tested. Needs resident dog. Respectful children 12 plus. Mabel came into our care a few weeks ago from Roxanas shelter in Romania. She was initially found in a nearby village after her and her siblings were abandoned as puppies. Mabel is a timid and reserved character who has been in her foster home for approximately 12 weeks, making gradual progress. Initially, she was fearful of human touch, but recently, she has started to enjoy affection and gets excited when she sees familiar faces. Mabel requires a home with at least one other dog as permanent resident, as she relies heavily on her pack. She loves going for walks, but prefers quieter areas due to her sensitivity to traffic. Senior dogs (10+ years): £150–£250 (depending on age and individual needs). Adoption Terms & Conditions When you adopt a Safe Rescue dog, you MUST use a slip lead. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a secure metal crate.
