Lizzie je středně velký kříženec ve věku okolo čtyř let. Lizzie se k nám připojila několik měsíců zpět, když jsme ji poznali na cestě do veřejného shelteru v Botosani v Rumunsku. V té době byla strašně hubená a děsilo nás, jestli bude žít dost dlouho, aby se dostala do Velké Británie. Od svého příchodu postupně přibrala na váze a nyní se proměnila v laskavou, milující a šťastnou malou dívku. Lizzie byla vždy zvědavá na lidi a ráda mezi nimi byla, ale původně se bála dotyku. Trvalo několik měsíců, než se naučila důvěřovat lidem, což je pochopitelné za jejího původního prostředí. Nyní tráví několik měsíců v domácím přijetí v UK a stále může být trochu opatrná vůči cizím lidem nebo náhlým pohybům, avšak v posledních týdnech se naučila být důvěřivá a přicházet k lidem pro pozornost a užívá si hladění. Když jí začne mávat ocas, dává svému domácímu přijetí neuvěřitelné „celotělové mávání“! Lizzie by mohla žít s jinými psy nebo být jediným psem, pokud by majitel byl doma většinu času. Je velmi hravá a ráda si hraje s hryzákem. Byla by šťastná ve skupině, kde jsou děti starší deseti let. Lizzie se naučila chodit na řetězu a teď si plně užívá své procházky. Je to huligaňská a veselá postava, která má ještě hodně v sobě, co se objeví v nadcházejících týdnech. Lizzie je v péči v Norwich Norfolk. Politika adopce Při adopci psa z Safe Rescue musíte použít klínovou řetěz. Tím zajistíte bezpečnost vašeho psa: váš nový pes bude nervózní a nedůvěřuje vám, a vy nebudete vědět, které situace by mohly vašeho psa rozrušit. Pokud váš pes zpanikaří, pak je klínová řetěz jediný způsob, jak zabránit tomu, aby unikl (mnoho psů může uniknout z krku a/nebo pásu). Bude trvat nejméně 3–6 měsíců, než se pes usadí a vy ho znáte plně (déle pro nervózní psy). Klínová řetěz musí být vždy použita během tohoto období usazování. I poté, co se pes usadí, je nejbezpečnější použít klínovou řetěz v situacích, kdy by mohl pes být vystrašen (např. návštěva nových míst, kolem neznámých lidí, u veterináře), nebo situacích, kde mohou nastat neočekávané stimuly (např. kolem výročí ohňostrojů). Nervózní psi mohou vždy nosit klínovou řetěz jako záložní bezpečnostní opatření. Klínová řetěz je bezpečnostní zařízení a nikdy nesmí být použita jako nástroj tréninku. Použití řetězu k aplikování tlaku na krk psa je škodlivé. Pokud váš pes táhne řetězem, můžeme vám poradit metodami tréninku, které zabrání poškození. Po usazení vašeho psa můžete zvážit použití pásu (spolu s klínovou řetězem), pokud je pes komfortní s manipulací při nasazení. Většina pásů není unikací ochranná, ale pásy se řemínkem za žebrami (např. Ruffwear Webmaster nebo Perfect Fit Harnesses) jsou bezpečnější. Retraktovatelné / prodlužovací řetězy nesmí být použity na naše psy. Adoptované psy je třeba vyzvednout z rescue a okamžitě převezt do domova v krabici. Zahrady a brány musí být minimálně 1,5 m a bezpečné. Všechny psy jsou očkovány, označené mikročipem a sterilizované (pokud je pes příliš mladý na sterilizaci). Lizzie is a medium sized crossbreed aged around four years old. Lizzie came into our care a few months ago after we met her on a trip to the Botosani public shelter in Romania. She was scarily emaciated back then and we did wonder if she would survive long enough for us to get her to the UK. Since her arrival she has steadily put on weight and has now flourished into a friendly, loving and happy little girl. Lizzie was always curious about people and happy to be around them but was initially afraid to be actually touched. It has taken a few months for her to learn to trust people which is understandable given her background. She has been in her UK foster home for a few months now and can still be a little wary of strangers or sudden movements, however over the last few weeks she has learnt to be confident to approach people for a fuss and enjoys being stroked. She gives her foster family the most incredible ‘whole body wags’ when her tail gets going! Lizzie could live with other dogs or be an only dog if adopter was home most of the time. She is very playful and loves her chew toys. She would be happy in a household with children aged ten plus. Lizzie has learnt how to walk on a lead and is now thoroughly enjoying her walks. She is a mischievous and cheerful character who has so much more inside of her that will emerge in the weeks ahead. Lizzie is fostered in Norwich Norfolk. This will keep your dog safe: your new dog will be nervous and will not trust you, and you will not know which situations might upset your dog. If your dog panics, then a slip lead is the only way to prevent your dog from escaping (many dogs can escape from a collar and/or harness). It will take AT LEAST 3-6 months for your dog to settle-in and for you to know your dog fully (longer for nervous dogs). The slip lead must ALWAYS be used during this settling-in period. Even after your dog is settled, it is safest to use the slip lead in situations where your dog may become scared (e.g. visiting new places, around unfamiliar people, at the vet), and it situations where unexpected triggers might happen (e.g. around bonfire night). Nervous dogs may always need to wear a slip-lead as a back-up safety measure. The slip lead is a safety device and must NEVER be used as a training tool. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
