Milá Melanie je ve karanténě, ale užívá si život! Toto zdrže ale milé kočičí kamarádky je jednou ze dvou současných obyvatel ocelové klece s leukémií. V tomto velkém prostoru držíme naše kočky, které se ukázaly být pozitivní na leukémii. Bohužel musí být odděleny od ostatních koček, protože tato nemoc je velmi nakažlivá pro jiné kočky. Naši dobrovolníci však vstupují do tohoto prostoru každý den, aby těmto kočkám poskytli všechno pozornost, kterou si zaslouží. Leukémie (infekce falešným leukémiovým virem, FeLV) je bohužel nevyléčitelná. Může způsobit různé poruchy krve a může vést ke snížení imunity, což činí kočku náchylnou ke sekundárním infekcím. Během raných stádií infekce je běžné, že kočky neprokazují žádné příznaky onemocnění, nicméně po měsících nebo dokonce letech může zdraví nakažené kočky rychle poklesnout. Naštěstí naše milá Melanie je teď opravdu dobře, užívá si život na našem fincas. Pokud můžete pomoci pro záležitost našich koček s leukémií, váš dar by byl velmi oceněn.

Sweet Melanie is in quarantine, but enjoying life! This shy but sweet feline friend is one of the two current Leukemia cage inhabitants. In this big enclosure, we keep our cats that have been tested positive for Leukemia. Unfortunately they have to be kept seperate from our other cats, because this disease is very contagious to other cats. Our volunteers, however, go into the enclosure to give these cats all the attention they deserve every day. Leukemia (an infection with the feline leukemia virus, FeLV) is unfortunately uncurable. It can cause various blood disorders and can lead to immune deficiency which makes a cat susceptible to secundary infections. During the early stages of infection, it is common for cats to show no signs of diease at all, however, after months or even years, an infected cat’s health can detoriate quickly. Luckily, our sweet Melanie is still doing really good at the moment, enjoying life at our finca. If you can help towards the cause of our Leukemia cats, your donation would be greatly appreciated.
