Oscar je malý až střední velikosti, vzhledem k špičatému kříženci starý kolem jednoho roku. Oscar měl nejhorší začátek života možný. Odkázaný na veřejné shelter v Botosani jako malý štěně lidmi, kteří ho nikdy neměli rádi. Jeho první týdny strávené mezi 150 štěňaty, žádné z nich nebyly dotyčné, sociální nebo cokoli jiného než nejzákladnější péče. Když přišel den, kdy měl odjet k nám, dostal silnou dávku chřipky a nedokázal odjet, což znamenalo další formující týdny stejným způsobem. Když přijel do naší péče byl traumatičtější a uzavřený a už neměl žádné pozitivní očekávání v těle nebo duši. Bohužel to trvalo měsíce, než se Oscar dostal do bodu, kde můžeme hledat pro něj domov, poškození bylo hluboké. Stále je nervózní vůči novým lidem a novým situacím, ale ve známém prostředí s lidmi, kterým důvěřuje, se stal docela charakteristickým. Potrava byla klíčem k jeho srdci a původně se naučil milovat nás jako životaschopné dobry dodavatele. Nyní si uvědomuje, že jeho lidé mají více k poskytnutí než jen potravu a umožňuje mu laskání a lásku a dokonce se k němu přiblíží, aby to požádal. Ještě trochu je opatrný s přezkoušením a vyklápění, ale užívá si své procházky a chová se dobře. Oscar bude potřebovat zkušeného adoptanta a dalšího psa v domě plným časem je nezbytné. Může žít s respektujícími dětmi staršími dvanáct let. Adoptéři musí očekávat, že se může skrýt na první několik dní, protože nové situace jsou stále strašlivé. Bude trvat NEJMÉNĚ 3–6 měsíců, než se pes usadí a abyste celým přístupem poznali svého psa (déle pro nervózní psy). Řetězec musí být POVINNĚ použit během tohoto období usazování. I poté, co se pes usadí, je nejbezpečnější použít řetězec v situacích, kde se pes může bát (např. návštěva nových míst, okolo neznámých lidí, u veterináře), a v situacích, kde mohou nastat neočekávané triggerové události (např. kolem ohňostrojové noci). Nervózní psi mohou vždy nosit řetězec jako záložní bezpečnostní opatření. Řetězec je bezpečnostní zařízení a nesmí být nikdy použit jako nástroj tréninku. Použití řetězce k aplikaci tlaku na šíji psa je škodlivé. Pokud pes táhne řetězcem, můžeme vám poradit s tréninkovými metodami, které nezpůsobí škodu. Jakmile se pes usadí, můžete zvážit použití sedačky (spolu se řetězcem), pokud pes je komfortní se zpracováním, když je nasazen. His early weeks spent as one of 150 puppies, none of them being handled, socialised or anything but the most basic of care. When it came to the day that he was due to travel to us he had contracted a bad dose of kennel cough and he couldn’t travel, meaning more formative weeks spent in much the same way. When he arrived in our care he was traumatised and shut down and had no positive expectations left in his body or soul. Sadly it has taken months to get Oscar to the point that we can look for a home for him, the damage ran deep. He is still concerned by new people and new situations, but in familiar surroundings with the people he trusts he’s become quite a character. Food has been the key to his heart and he initially learned to love us as life sized good dispensers. He now appreciates that his humans have more to offer than just food and will allow fuss and affection and even approach to ask for it. He’s still a little wary of the lead going on and off but he enjoys his walks and behaves well. Oscar will need an experienced adopter and another dog in the home full time is essential. He could live with respectful children aged twelve plus. Adopters will need to expect for him to potentially hide up for the first few days as new situations are still scary. He has shown that he has the capacity to learn at a steady rate and he wants to be a part of a family and let the last of his walls fall down. Using the lead to apply pressure to the dog’s neck is damaging. If your dog pulls on the lead, then we can advise you on training methods that avoid harm. Once your dog is settled, you may want to consider using a harness (together with the slip lead) if your dog is comfortable with being handled when it is fitted. Most harnesses are not escape-proof, but harnesses with a strap behind the ribcage (e.g. Ruffwear Webmaster or Perfect Fit Harnesses) are safer. Retractable / extendable leads must never be used on our dogs. Adopted dogs must be collected from the rescue and transported straight home in a crate. Fences and gates must be 5ft min & secure.
