Sladký pejsek Rhupert je teprve batole a už byl předáván z místa na místo a skončil v britském systému psích útulků. Rhupert byl původně koupen jako štěně rodinou, která ho už nechtěla. Prodali ho online do velmi rušné domácnosti, která žila v malém bytě. Chudák Rhupert musel být vyděšený, když opustil jedinou rodinu a domov, který kdy poznal, a všichni ti noví lidé pro něj byli prostě příliš. Nevíme přesně, co se stalo, ale bylo nám řečeno, že Rhupert zaútočil na jednoho z mužů v domě, a tak byl ihned zavolán psí strážce, aby byl přemístěn z budovy. Tento citlivý chlapec byl absolutně vyděšený v rušných psincích a byl jen několik hodin od eutanázie, protože jen málo záchranných organizací by přijalo psa, který dal varování jako toto, i když to bylo kvůli strachu. Naštěstí jsme dostali hovor o něm a nemohli jsme říct ne jeho smutnému obličeji. Rhupert bude potřebovat domov, který mu dá jeho vlastní prostor, když ho potřebuje, a dát mu tolik času, kolik potřebuje k usazení a cítit se bezpečně. To nemusí být super rychlý proces, ale vzhledem k tomu, co prožil, si zaslouží veškerý čas a pochopení na světě. V našem útulku se přitahoval k malé hrstce lidí, se kterými se cítí bezpečně. Bude přijímat pohlazení od nich, masírování bříška, miluje, když ho vezmou na procházku a bude šťastně hrát s hračkami, pokud jsou jeho lidé s ním pro bezpečnost. Když je sám, bohužel, to nezvládá dobře. Pláče a pláče a je to prostě srdcervoucí. Separační úzkost může být velkým problémem v domově a je to něco, co se bude muset vyřešit v průběhu času. Pro Rhuperta, když se s někým sblíží a ta osoba ho opustí - i když jen na nákup - pro něj, celá jeho svět byla vzata a on nebude vědět, jestli se s tou osobou někdy znovu uvidí, a tak se jeho srdce opravdu zlomí pokaždé :( Rhupert ukázal, že může být kolem jiných psů, ale v tuto chvíli jeho úzkost převládá a on střeží všechno v dohledu, což vede k tomu, že je velmi útočný vůči ostatním psům a pronásleduje je. Sweet boy Rhupert, he's only a baby and already he has been passed fom pillar to post and found himself in the UK pound system. Rhupert was originally bought as a pup by a family that no longer wanted him. They sold him online to a very busy household that lived in a small flat. Poor Rhupert must've been terrified leaving behind the only family and home that he'd ever know and all of these new people were just too much for him to cope with. We don't know exactly what happened, but we were told that Rhupert lunged at one of the men in the home and so the dog warden was called immediately for him to be moved from the premises. This sensitive boy was absolutely terrified in the busy council kennels and he was hours away from being euthanised as not many rescues would take in a dog that had given a warning like this, even if it was down to fear. Luckily, we received the call about him and we couldn't say no to his sad little face. Rhupert is going to need a home that will give him his own space when he needs it and give him as much time as he needs to settle in and feel safe. It may not be a super fast process but considering what he's been through, he deserves all of the time and understanding in the world. At our rescue, he has magnestised himself to a small handful of people that he feels safe with. He'll accept strokes from them, belly tickles, loves for them to take him out on walks and he'll happily entertain himself with toys, so long as his people are with him for safety. When he is alone, unfortunately, he doesn't cope well. He wails and cries and it's just heartbreaking. Seperation anxiety could very well be a problem in a home and it is something that is very liklely going to need to be worked on over time. For Rhupert, when he bonds with someone and that person leaves him - even if it's just to pop to the shops - for him, his whole world has been taken away from him and he won't know whether he is ever going to see that person again and so his heart really does break every time :( Rhupert has shown that he can be around other dogs but at the moment, his anxiety takes over and he has been guarding everything in sight leading him to be very snappy towards the other dogs and chasing them away. He has never shown any guarding issues towards people. Rhupert is far too anxious at this time for us to be able to cat test him. Rhupert shows to have moderate to high energy levels, he is still just a pup and is highly anxious in the kennels so it's difficult to get a true read of him whilst he's in kennels Whilst being at the kennels, Rhupert has shown that his anxiety levels are through the roof and that he's currently struggling with seperation anxiety. He will cry none stop for hours and it's just heartbreaking. In a home, Rhupert will need to be left alone for as minimal periods as possible whilst he learns that it is ok to be by himself sometimes and that he is safe Rhupert can be a little nervous on lead but he loves his walks and is slowly building up his confidence being out and about Rhupert doesn't seem to have any form of basic training. He does toilet a lot in his kennel - this could just be due to anxiety however toilet training is very likely something that will need to be continued once in a home
