Słodki chłopiec Rhupert, jest tylko dzieckiem, a już został przekazany z rąk do rąk i znalazł się w brytyjskim systemie schronisk dla zwierząt. Rhupert został pierwotnie kupiony przez rodzinę, która już go nie chciała. Sprzedali go online do bardzo zapracowanego gospodarstwa domowego, które mieszkało w małym mieszkaniu. Biedny Rhupert musiał być przerażony zostawieniem za sobą jedynej rodziny i domu, jaki kiedykolwiek znał, a wszyscy nowi ludzie byli dla niego po prostu zbyt trudni do zniesienia. Nie wiemy dokładnie, co się stało, ale powiedziano nam, że Rhupert rzucił się na jednego z mężczyzn w domu, więc weterynarz został natychmiast wezwany, aby go zabrał z posesji. Ten wrażliwy chłopiec był absolutnie przerażony w zatłoczonych schronach dla zwierząt i był godzinami od eutanazji, ponieważ niewiele schronisk przyjęłoby psa, który dał ostrzeżenie, jak to, nawet jeśli to było spowodowane strachem. Na szczęście otrzymaliśmy wezwanie o nim i nie mogliśmy odmówić jego smutnej twarzy. Rhupert będzie potrzebował domu, który zapewni mu własny pokój, gdy będzie tego potrzebował, i da mu tyle czasu, ile będzie potrzebował, aby się osiedlić i czuć się bezpiecznie. W naszym schronisku przyciągnął się do małej garstki ludzi, z którymi czuje się bezpiecznie. Przyjmie od nich głaskanie, drapanie za brzuch, uwielbia, gdy zabierają go na spacery, i chętnie bawi się zabawkami, o ile jego ludzie są z nim dla bezpieczeństwa. Kiedy jest sam, niestety, nie radzi sobie dobrze. Płacze i krzyczy, a to jest po prostu bolesne. Separacja lęk może być bardzo dużym problemem w domu i jest to coś, co z pewnością będzie musiało być przezwyciężone z czasem. Dla Rhuperta, gdy się z kimś zaprzyjaźni, a ta osoba go opuści - nawet jeśli po prostu pójdzie do sklepu - dla niego cały jego świat został mu zabrany i nie będzie wiedział, czy kiedykolwiek zobaczy tę osobę ponownie, a więc jego serce naprawdę się rozpada za każdym razem :( Rhupert pokazał, że może przebywać z innymi psami, ale na razie jego lęk przejmuje kontrolę i zaczął pilnować wszystkiego w zasięgu wzroku, co prowadzi do tego, że jest bardzo zły na inne psy i je przegania. Nigdy nie wykazywał żadnych problemów z pilnowaniem ludzi. Rhupert jest zbyt zdenerwowany w tym czasie, abyśmy mogli go przetestować. Rhupert pokazuje, że ma umiarkowane do wysokich poziomów energii, jest jeszcze tylko szczeniakiem i jest bardzo zden

Sweet boy Rhupert, he's only a baby and already he has been passed fom pillar to post and found himself in the UK pound system. Rhupert was originally bought as a pup by a family that no longer wanted him. They sold him online to a very busy household that lived in a small flat. Poor Rhupert must've been terrified leaving behind the only family and home that he'd ever know and all of these new people were just too much for him to cope with. We don't know exactly what happened, but we were told that Rhupert lunged at one of the men in the home and so the dog warden was called immediately for him to be moved from the premises. This sensitive boy was absolutely terrified in the busy council kennels and he was hours away from being euthanised as not many rescues would take in a dog that had given a warning like this, even if it was down to fear. Luckily, we received the call about him and we couldn't say no to his sad little face. Rhupert is going to need a home that will give him his own space when he needs it and give him as much time as he needs to settle in and feel safe. It may not be a super fast process but considering what he's been through, he deserves all of the time and understanding in the world. At our rescue, he has magnestised himself to a small handful of people that he feels safe with. He'll accept strokes from them, belly tickles, loves for them to take him out on walks and he'll happily entertain himself with toys, so long as his people are with him for safety. When he is alone, unfortunately, he doesn't cope well. He wails and cries and it's just heartbreaking. Seperation anxiety could very well be a problem in a home and it is something that is very liklely going to need to be worked on over time. For Rhupert, when he bonds with someone and that person leaves him - even if it's just to pop to the shops - for him, his whole world has been taken away from him and he won't know whether he is ever going to see that person again and so his heart really does break every time :( Rhupert has shown that he can be around other dogs but at the moment, his anxiety takes over and he has been guarding everything in sight leading him to be very snappy towards the other dogs and chasing them away. He has never shown any guarding issues towards people. Rhupert is far too anxious at this time for us to be able to cat test him. Rhupert shows to have moderate to high energy levels, he is still just a pup and is highly anxious in the kennels so it's difficult to get a true read of him whilst he's in kennels Whilst being at the kennels, Rhupert has shown that his anxiety levels are through the roof and that he's currently struggling with seperation anxiety. He will cry none stop for hours and it's just heartbreaking. In a home, Rhupert will need to be left alone for as minimal periods as possible whilst he learns that it is ok to be by himself sometimes and that he is safe Rhupert can be a little nervous on lead but he loves his walks and is slowly building up his confidence being out and about Rhupert doesn't seem to have any form of basic training. He does toilet a lot in his kennel - this could just be due to anxiety however toilet training is very likely something that will need to be continued once in a home
