Xirius del Matochar er en flot ung hanhund af racen Brittany, som kun er tre år gammel, og hans fødselsdato er 02/11/22. Xirius er en aktiv og energisk lille hund, som elsker at løbe og snuse til alt. Han er social med andre hunde og deler i øjeblikket en kennel med sin bror Xenon. Han er meget kærlig og omsorgsfuld over for mennesker og søger konstant kram og kærtegn. Han er lydig, når han bliver kaldt inden for grænserne af dyreinternatet. Xirius og hans bror Xenon stammer fra en opdrætter af racen Brittany i nærheden af Madrid. Vi hørte for nylig, at opdrætteren blev smidt ud af sit land, og hans 33 Brittany-hunde var i fare. Han formåede at finde nye hjem til 15 af hundene, og sammen med to andre redningsorganisationer tilbød vi at tage de resterende 18 hunde. Opdrætteren bragte dem til den nordlige del af Spanien, og SeBPRA tog 11 af Brittany-hundene. Alle er stambogsførte hunde, og de vil være blevet brugt til jagt, avl og udstilling. Flere af hundene har Champion-titler og PAN-certificering (Prueba de Aptitudes Naturales (Natural Aptitudes Test), en officiel feltvurdering, der vurderer en hunds naturlige jagtinstinkter og er normalt obligatorisk, før en hund kan gøre krav på en Champion-udstillingstitel. Det sikrer, at racer med dobbelt formål stadig bevarer de arbejdende raceregenskaber. Vi ved, at Poker, Roma, Tormenta og Xiloe er blevet udstillet, men Brittany er en ægte dobbelt formål race, så disse hunde er lige så sandsynlige at have været på jagt sidste weekend som i udstillingsringen.

Xirius del Matochar is a handsome young male Brittany, just three years old, his date of birth is 02/11/22. Xirius is an active and energetic little dog who loves to run and sniff everything. He is sociable with other dogs and currently shares a kennel with his brother Xenon. He is very affectionate and loving with people, constantly seeking cuddles and affection. He is obedient when called within the confines of the shelter. Xirius and his brother Xenon, come from a Brittany breeder near Madrid. We recently heard that the breeder was being evicted from his land and his 33 Brittanys were at risk. He managed to rehome 15 of the dogs and together with two other rescues we offered to take the remaining 18 dogs. The breeder brought them up to the north of Spain and SeBPRA took on 11 of the Brittanys. All are pedigree dogs, and they will have been used for hunting, breeding and showing. Several of the dogs have Champion titles and PAN certification (Prueba de Aptitudes Naturales (Natural Aptitudes Test), an official field evaluation that assesses a dog’s natural hunting instincts and is usually mandatory before a dog can claim a Champion show title. It ensures that dual purpose breeds still retain the working breed qualities. We know Poker, Roma, Tormenta, Xiloe, and Xirius have been shown, however the Brittany is a true dual purpose breed, so these dogs are just as likely to have been out hunting last weekend as in the show ring.
