Our neutered Chihuahua Terrier Mix male dog MIKEY came to us because his previous owners no longer had the time for him. He was born on 07.02.2020. MIKEY is a shy Chihuahua-Terrier-Mix who is looking for a quiet and understanding home. We would like him to be with people who have good dog experience and can handle him confidently and consistently. Children should not live in the household, as MIKEY is too unstable in dealing with people. An ideal home would be in a quiet environment, as too much commotion quickly overloads him. With his environment, he is generally stable and can also be left alone. MIKEY has so far been kept away from many distractions, especially from strangers, dogs, and new situations. Through this, he has learned to keep unfamiliar things at a distance by barking. When strangers or dogs come too close and seek direct contact, he reacts hysterically and panically. In such moments, he escalates from loud barking to biting in self-defense. Therefore, he needs a lot of time to build trust, as he is very skeptical of new people. His future trusted people should be ready to give him this time and not pressure him. With patience, clear guidance, and a good sense of his signals, MIKEY can learn to develop more security.
