Schönes kleines Capri, der Chef auf dem Finca! Er mag klein und niedlich sein, doch lassen Sie sich nicht täuschen! Capri ist ein harter Kerl in seinem kleinen Körper. Respektiert von allen Pferden und die erste Wahl bei den Damen! Capri ist bei uns seit Anfang an, unsere erste echte Rettung auf der Insel (nach Echo, aber Sie können seine Geschichte lesen) und das einfachste Problem, zu beheben. Er hat uns sanft eingeführt und wir wünschen uns, dass alle Probleme solch eine einfache Lösung hätten. Capri war ein Ausflugspony, bevor er zu uns kam, er war in guter Verfassung, mit normalem Gewicht und recht gut versorgt (für unsere Rettungsstandards). Allerdings wurde er zweimal täglich für Ausflüge eingesetzt. Er war das "langsame Anfängerpferd" und wurde anscheinend immer langsamer und schwerer zu motivieren. Leider ist dies wieder ein Fall von Unwissenheit; der Grund war, dass er mit Schmerzen in einem seiner Rückenbeine litt. Nachdem er zu uns gekommen war und sich entspannen durfte, sodass seine Gefühle zum Vorschein kamen, sahen wir bald, dass er unter Schmerzen litt. Die Tierärzte stellten eine akute Arthritis ohne Heilung fest, er würde für immer hinken, also sollte man ihn einschläfern, da es grausam wäre, ihn zu halten, wenn er nicht mehr gehen konnte. Zum Glück ist das bei Capri jedoch ganz anders. Nachdem wir seine Metallsporen entfernt haben, ihm Ruhe und Entspannung ermöglicht haben, wissend, dass er nicht mehr durch die Schmerzen arbeiten musste, eine Behandlung mit leichtem entzündungshemmenden Medikamenten und einer langsam eingeführten sanften Bewegung innerhalb von zwei Monaten, war er vollständig gesund. Zwei Jahre später hatte er seitdem kein Hinken mehr und ist bestimmt nicht mehr das "langsame Anfängerpferd". Er genießt sehr das Gehen.

Pretty little Capri, boss of the finca! He may be little and cute, but don't be fooled! Capri is a tough guy in his little frame. Respected by all the horses and the top choice for the ladies! Capri has been with us from the very beginning, our first real rescue on the island (after Echo, but you can read his story) and the easiest problem to fix. He eased us in gently and we wish all problems had such an easy solution. Capri was an excursion horse before he came to us, he was in good condition, nice weight and pretty well cared for (for our rescue standards). However he was used twice daily for excursions. He was the “slow beginners” horse and was getting slower and harder work to motivate apparently. Sadly this is another case of ignorance, the reason was because he was in crippling pain with one of his back legs. After coming to us and being allowed to relax and let his feelings show we soon saw he was going through the pain. The vets diagnosed as acute arthritis with no cure, he would be lame forever so should be put to sleep as it was cruel to keep him when he was unable to walk. Luckily for Capri this is not the case AT ALL. After we removed his metal shoes, allowed him to rest and relax knowing he didn't need to perform through the pain, a course of light anti-inflammatory and slow introduction of gentle exercise within 2 months he was perfectly sound and 2 years later he hasn't had any lameness since and is certainly NOT the slow beginners horse. He very much enjoys walking.
