Yaco, a beautiful white-faced Podenco senior, was handed over to the shelter by his human who does not want him anymore. It looks like Yaco does not yet realise that he has been abandoned, because he comes across cheerful, happy to see people, glad to go for a walk. At the same time, it is very easy to see that he is extremely stressed by the loud shelter environment - he still has his hearing, and the loudness, the barking of the shelter, the unknown surrounding, all stranger faces, is really stressing him out…. In his kennel he is quite calm, and he has good appetite (while he is not too stressed). He especially loves little salami sausages, and seems to especially enjoy the company of kind men - perhaps he associates men with the human he has been left behind by. Yaco walks very nicely on the leash, he is curious and loves to go sniffing in the bushes. He is looking for a calm home, without too many stressors or noises, but at the same time his perfect human would be a relatively active human who loves to go to nature walks. Considering his stress response to noise and many things happening, we believe that a quiet neighborhood, on the countryside or suburbs, would be most suitable for him. In the shelter, Yaco will receive a dental cleaning, health check, nail cutting and a bath. His shoulder height is 54cm and he seems to be in a quite good physical condition. All of our seniors are looking for forever homes or forever fosters. The shelter will always be available for medical & behavioral support for seniors in their retirement homes.
