At three years old, Betty should have been enjoying a life filled with love, kindness and security. Instead, this beautiful, gentle girl found herself in a terrifying situation, being held by dog catchers and facing the prospect of being put to sleep. With less than a day left to save her, Betty's future was hanging in the balance. On 15th October 2026, we received a desperate message accompanied by a secretly recorded video showing three dogs being held in a room awaiting their fate. Betty was one of those three innocent souls, alongside Elda and Sofia. Unless they were rescued by midday the following day, their lives would be over. Each dog needed €45 to secure their release, and we knew we couldn't stand by and allow these three precious lives to be lost. Thankfully, all three dogs were saved, and on 16th October, Betty and her two companions were taken straight to the vet for examinations. To our relief, they were all found to be healthy, although they still needed treatment for fleas and parasites, followed by their vaccinations and the usual care needed to give them a fresh start. What makes Betty so special is her wonderfully calm and gentle nature. Despite everything she has been through, she remains a quiet, sweet girl who asks for so little. It is difficult to imagine how such a gentle dog could have come so close to losing her life, simply because she had nowhere safe to call home.
