Bob came to Farplace on 7 September 2020. We don’t know much about his life before coming to us, but when he arrived he was a very shy and timid boy who found people quite scary. Bob is still a quiet little soul and can take some time to feel comfortable, but he’s a lovely boy once you get to know him. He’s not the type to charge over looking for attention, but he’s perfectly happy pottering around and enjoying the company of his feline friends. His best friends are the boys in our FIV section, and we’d really love to see him find a home with one of his buddies. He is particularly close to Al Capone and Walnut. They can often be found cuddled up together and grooming each other, and it’s lovely to see how much comfort they get from one another. Bob also enjoys a bit of playtime, especially with his favourite toy mice. He’s got a quieter personality, but there’s definitely a playful little character hiding underneath all that shyness. Bob has had some dental problems during his time with us and has already had dental treatment. He’s currently due to have some further dental work, but once he’s recovered, he’ll be ready to start looking for his forever home. Because Bob is FIV positive, he’ll need a family who understands that he may require a little more monitoring than some cats. FIV-positive cats can live long, happy and fulfilling lives, but keeping an eye on their general health and getting veterinary advice promptly if they become unwell is particularly important. Bob isn’t going to be the sort of cat who walks straight into a new home and makes himself comfortable on your lap. He needs somebody who will give him time, patience and space to settle, ideally with a friendly feline companion to help him feel safe. FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) can sound much scarier than it actually is. It affects a cat’s immune system, but FIV-positive cats can live long, happy and fulfilling lives with the right care. Bob has experienced some dental problems and has had dental treatment during his time with us. He is currently due further dental work, after which he’ll be able to continue looking for his forever home. His future family will need to be aware of his FIV status and make sure he receives regular veterinary care and is monitored for any signs of illness. As Bob is FIV positive, he will not be routinely vaccinated. His healthcare will be managed according to his individual needs. Before Bob goes to his new home, he will be castrated and microchipped, with flea and worm treatment kept up to date, and he will have a full health check. As he is FIV positive, he will not be routinely vaccinated. We’ll also provide you with a full copy of his veterinary records to keep for your own records when he goes off to his new home. Indoor-only policy If you feel you could offer Bob the right home, ideally with one of his FIV friends, please email for an adoption questionnaire. We can then arrange a home check. We are happy to consider homes up to around two hours’ travel from the rescue. Any further than this can make it difficult for us to offer the support we feel is important after adoption.
