Meet Mia! Mia is a beautiful girl who is looking for a patient, understanding and experienced home where she can learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Mia is a very timid and nervous girl who is still finding her feet with us. Since arriving 3 months ago, very emaciated and in a bad state she has started to come around with our staff, and has put weight on nicely and we are beginning to see the sweet girl hiding behind all that uncertainty. Mia is still a bit wary when the staff enter her kennel and will often retreat to the back. Having her harness put on can also be a worrying experience for her, so she needs gentle handling, reassurance and plenty of time to feel comfortable. With calm encouragement and a kind approach, Mia responds well and is slowly learning to trust the people around her. One thing Mia does enjoy is a good brush! It’s lovely to see her discovering little moments of comfort, and we are celebrating every small step she takes towards building her confidence. When out in our secure compound, Mia isn’t particularly interested in toys just yet. She would much rather take her time having a good sniff around and exploring her surroundings at her own pace. For Mia, it’s all about taking things slowly, without pressure or expectations. Mia will need an experienced Dogue De Bordeaux owner who understands the breed and is prepared to give her time, patience and the consistency she needs. She will need someone who can read her body language, respect her boundaries and allow her confidence to grow at her own pace. She may take time to settle into her new home, but with the right person by her side, we know she will continue to blossom. Mia isn’t a girl who will rush up to you looking for a fuss just yet. She’s a girl who needs you to gain her trust, gently and patiently. But beneath that nervous exterior is a very sweet dog who deserves the chance to feel safe, secure and loved. Mia will need a private secure garden. Mia has had a heart scan and echo cardiogram done and has a minor mitral valve issue, which currently isn’t causing her any problems. This will be discussed in detail with the successful applicant. Mia has interacted with other dogs while in our care, and is very nervous and unsure around them, so we feel she would be best rehomed as the only dog in the home where she can take her time gaining her confidence around other dogs with the full support and gentle guidance of her new adopter.
