Ten whole years on the streets, in uncertainty, in cold and heat. Ten years waiting for a person who will finally say to her: “Come home.” Once hope had arrived. We’d managed to find her an adoption. For the first time, her life was going to change. She’d leave behind the streets, the dangers, and the loneliness. But that chance was lost. Hermione stayed here. And the years passed. Today she’s an elderly little dog, with seizures that require monitoring and care. Yet she still looks at us with trust. She still approaches people. She still hopes. She’s calm, sweet, and carries on her back all the weariness of a lifetime on the streets. We don’t know how many more years she’ll keep waiting. We don’t know if she’ll ever get to experience what it means to sleep in a warm home, to have a bed, to not fear winter or summer. What we do know is that she doesn’t deserve to grow old on a sidewalk. Hermione doesn’t ask for much. She doesn’t ask for walks every day, nor endless games. She asks for peace, safety, care, and a person who’ll give her the years she truly deserves. Maybe she’s no longer a puppy. 🤍 ΚΑΠΟΤΕ ΒΡΗΚΕ ΤΟ ΣΠΙΤΙ ΤΗΣ… ΑΛΛΑ ΔΕΝ ΤΗΣ ΕΠΕΤΡΑΨΑΝ ΝΑ ΦΥΓΕΙ. 🤍 Υπάρχουν κάποια ζώα που μοιάζουν σαν να γεννήθηκαν για να περιμένουν. Η Ερμιόνη είναι ένα από αυτά. Είναι περίπου 10 ετών. Δέκα ολόκληρα χρόνια στους δρόμους, στην αβεβαιότητα, στο κρύο και στη ζέστη. Δέκα χρόνια να περιμένει έναν άνθρωπο που θα της πει επιτέλους: «Έλα σπίτι». Κάποτε η ελπίδα είχε έρθει. Είχαμε καταφέρει να της βρούμε υιοθεσία. Για πρώτη φορά η ζωή της θα άλλαζε. Θα άφηνε πίσω τον δρόμο, τους κινδύνους και τη μοναξιά. Όμως αυτή η ευκαιρία χάθηκε. Η Ερμιόνη παρέμεινε εδώ. Και τα χρόνια πέρασαν. Σήμερα είναι μία ηλικιωμένη πια σκυλίτσα, με επιληπτικές κρίσεις που απαιτούν παρακολούθηση και φροντίδα. Παρ' όλα αυτά συνεχίζει να μας κοιτάζει με εμπιστοσύνη. Συνεχίζει να πλησιάζει τους ανθρώπους. Συνεχίζει να ελπίζει. Είναι ήρεμη, γλυκιά και κουβαλά πάνω της όλη την κούραση μιας ζωής στον δρόμο. Δεν ξέρουμε πόσα χρόνια ακόμη θα περιμένει. Δεν ξέρουμε αν θα προλάβει να γνωρίσει τι σημαίνει να κοιμάσαι σε ένα ζεστό σπίτι, να έχεις ένα κρεβάτι, να μη φοβάσαι τον χειμώνα ή τη ζέστη. Αυτό που ξέρουμε είναι ότι δεν αξίζει να γεράσει πάνω σε ένα πεζοδρόμιο. Η Ερμιόνη δεν ζητά πολλά. Δεν ζητά βόλτες κάθε μέρα, ούτε ατελείωτα παιχνίδια. Ζητά ηρεμία, ασφάλεια, φροντίδα και έναν άνθρωπο που θα της χαρίσει τα χρόνια που της αξίζουν. Ίσως να μην είναι πλέον κουτάβι. Ίσως να μην είναι το σκυλί που όλοι προσπερνούν επειδή είναι «μεγάλο».
