Grizley came to us in March 2024 after a concerned citizen contacted us about a male dog who had appeared in his neighbourhood and was chasing cats. He brought Grizley to us, and we immediately checked for a microchip. Unfortunately, although he was chipped, he was not registered, so we had no way of finding his family. We waited for several weeks and searched for his owner, hoping that someone would come looking for him. Sadly, no one ever did. And so Grizley stayed. More than two years later, he is still waiting for the person who will truly understand him. Grizley is a Belgian Malinois, and like many dogs of this breed, he is intelligent, athletic, energetic and full of character. He absolutely loves being outside. He enjoys running freely across our large green field, playing and spending time with people. With humans, Grizley is friendly, affectionate and loyal, and once he trusts someone, he forms a very strong bond with them. When it comes to other dogs, however, Grizley can be dominant and selective. For this reason, he needs someone who understands dog behaviour and, ideally, already has experience with Belgian Malinois or other working breeds. This is very important because a Malinois is not simply a dog that needs a home and a daily walk. They are highly intelligent working dogs who need structure, consistency, physical activity and mental stimulation. They thrive when they have something to do and when they can work together with their person. He deserves someone who will see the wonderful dog behind his strong character. Someone who understands Malinois. Someone who will give him a purpose, guidance, exercise and, most importantly, a real home.
